#more on durges lack of autonomy when it comes to the urges: many of the scenes where durge acts on the urges

there's something so interesting about how those from durge's past do not separate the urge from durge, because to them, durge cannot exist without the urge, and it just shows how deeply ingrained these compulsions are to durge.

it just really highlights how pre-tadpole, durge had little to no identity beyond what bhaal made him to be, and it explains why bhaal only claims the urge after killing durge, and not durge's entire soul.
i definitely think there was a point in time, likely in durge's childhood to young adulthood (as they did not grow up in the bhaal temple, unlike orin), where they might've tried to resist the urge, but had little to no autonomy over their actions, just like the scene w the bard (alfira or quil) in act 1, as well as the scene where durge kills their lover in their sleep if you pick the option to make durge go to sleep again
the reason why i think durge might've tried to resist in their childhood comes from some of the lines both durge and sceleritas say, like i think the line where sceleritas is like "you've always needed much assistance to perform basic tasks" or whatever + how sceleritas was the one who guided durge through a lot of their first times regarding murder. to me that tells me that despite murder coming naturally to durge, they didn't want to live like that

in the introduction video to durge, durge talks about how the only thing they *do* know is that they /must/ resist their urges so they don't commit another massacre. to me, that just further supports that there is something in durge- beyond bhaal- that has always desperately tried to become free of the urges and resist them
given how durge can ask sceleritas fel if he's the reason why they have the urges, it's possible a young durge in their childhood thought sceleritas was responsible for the urges.
many lines regarding durge's relation to bhaal makes it clear that durge lives in terror of bhaal while still loving him dearly (because bhaal is their father), just emphasing how little autonomy durge has due to their father
i find it interesting how there's just a general theme of sceleritas being an almost "caretaker" figure to durge whose always been there to help and guide durge, like the scene where durge eats the noblestalk and remembers sceleritas helping them with a live dissection (at a point in durge's life where they may not need such assistance, evidenced by durge getting the option to scold sceleritas for messing up)
sceleritas fel tries to "protect" durge by keeping them on the right path (listening to the urge's and bhaal's commands)
to bhaal, while he "loves" his child, durge is no more than an extension of himself, a tool that allows bhaal to eventually destroy the whole world by dominating the netherbrain
