@muselexum / BIRDIE asked: Birdie was always excited to welcome new friends to Kuraigana. Things had become much more fun-- and funnier, with Perona-sis and Zoro-bro around, and so when a red haired man and his funny-looking friends showed up she considered it an absolute win. Mihawk didn't seem all too enthused at the growing number of guests, but Birdie made up for his energy tenfold.
She burst into the parlor, a playful screech erupting from her as a chimp named Monster chased her around the house. A black cape she had 'borrowed' from the foyer to play pirate flying behind her as she ran. [from her little hawk verse]
Visits to Mihawk had always provided him with many things. In their younger days it had always been the same--sparring and drinking. There had been conversations along with both, of course, but the two had seemed to have made a tradition of sorts. Dueling had always come first. The loss of his arm had altered the nature of their relationship.
Since the man had made Kuraigana his home, they had managed to find new traditions. Any more, his friend’s home had become a place of peace, despite the island’s gloomy nature. It had always brought an ease to his troubled and often anxious mind–both the drinks and Mihawk’s quiet company had helped.
It had been a shock when he had discovered that Mihawk had been housing not one or two, but three people at his home. Luffy’s first mate and the pink haired woman had been enough of a twist, but then he had spotted the child and he felt his worldview nearly spin out of control.
Shanks hadn’t had it in him to ask questions about where the girl had come from and Mihawk had yet to offer any. Her appearance had stunned him into a rare silence. He couldn’t put words to the myriad of feelings that had risen for some time, but he found the reason behind them with ease.
Akane had been on his mind since he and his crew had left Sphinx. They hadn’t spoken after their first conversation and he wasn’t sure who was avoiding who. Shanks had resisted the urge to return to West Blue–there had been no time, but he couldn’t help but imagine every scenario and seeing Mihawk of all people with a young girl running around had struck a painful chord.
Was Mihawk living the life Shanks should have had?
Staying in one place, offering a child a safe place to grow. Surely Mihawk must have had similar concerns. Sure she was safer here, under the watchful eyes of a Warlord, than with a Pirate Lord, but never as safe as she deserved to be.
The words are there–on the tip of his tongue–waiting to be asked. He wanted answers but couldn’t bring himself to ask a thing.
His thoughts are interrupted by the girl’s sudden entry into the room the men had occupied, Monster chittering behind her. His cape was wrapped around her and he felt his heart sink. It would have been an odd and maybe even a difficult life for him. He and Eliza in the West, raising their daughter, playing together; her wrapped up in his capes and coats. The way he had done with Luffy and Uta. The way he couldn’t with Akane.
Birdie’s yell, her laughter, was enough to snap him from what thoughts he was lost in and brighten the dark halls. It was enough to pull him from his seat, setting the glass on the nearby table, Shanks caught up with her quickly, with a hollar of his own, and scoops her up into his arm. He flips her with ease, holding her upside down, her small legs over his shoulder.
“Dahaha–!!”
He laughs, shaking his head and dangling her over Monster. “I’ve finally captured the wretched pirate, Lady Birdie!” Shanks gives her a small swing, and Monster reaches up, one hand at Shanks’ pant leg, chattering and hopping below her, though she’s just out of reach.
“Now–what shall I do with her, hm?” He grins at the girl, feeling slightly at ease that he could at least make this girl feel some happiness. “Shall we feed her to the dreaded, bird-eating chimp, perhaps?”

A lady had arrived on the gloomy island and Birdie, like a little star, brightened up her surroundings with her chipper attitude. In an attempt to make friends with the really cool-lookin' lady, Birdie held out a bunch of carrots from the stem towards her in a peace offering. "For you, Miss! I grew these myself!" Under Mihawk's instruction, of course. A large smile was plastered across her face, "I'm Birdie. I hope we can be friends!" [in her Little Hawk verse]
Random Prompt (Always Accepting) ; @muselexum (Birdie)
Mihawk had given her a rough explanation to their newest resident, and couldn’t help having teased the man for his curious adoption methods.
‘You taking in strays Mihawk? My my, what will people say?’, He’d given her an annoyed look, huffing, ‘She’s outside.’
Naturally, he’d claim it as a coincidence or deny it all together--stubborn as he is but as honorable as ever, in his way... but if the girl was from a slave ship then there was no place safer then Mihawk’s castle---no one dared to pursue a man like him lightly. That was assuming they even knew the girls whereabouts or thought her to be dead. She perched herself onto one of the stone ledges, leg dangling precariously and the other propped up to rest her arm as she observed the scenery. The garden was coming along nicely, and it looked like the little one was helping.
Mishil felt a twinge of... something. Not pity. Not regret. A feeling she couldn’t place after summarizing the girl’s misfortune and luck. To lose family and home all at once... It struck a chord of familiarity. She hadn’t expected the girl to approach her first, let alone appear so energetic. Her smile certainly was sincere enough... But she looked like she still needed more feeding and growing to do.
❝ Birdie huh? Thanks, we can get Mihawk to make stew later with them.❞ She studied the vegetables, nose twitching as she sniffed. ❝ Nice and strong, hm. ❞ She didn’t look afraid of her--most were wary but maybe that was the benefit of being young. ❝ I’m-- ❞ She hesitated a moment, sighing before easing down her hood. Dark, scarlet hair spilled from over her shoulders and her gold eyes glinted. ❝ Mishil. Call me that. Now, I take it you’ve been helping Mihawk around huh? Noticed he’s a big ‘ol softy under all that grizzly bear growling? ❞
The girl giggled, no doubt imagining the fearsome man as the bear Mishil conjured. She gestured a mocking claw, until the girl laughed out loud. Mishil raised her hand, and lightly patted the top of the young girl’s head. ❝ Ah, there’s a good lass. Laughing and makin’ merry is how it should be at your age. ❞
❝ Do you know Mister Mihawk well? ❞
Mishil wrinkled her nose playfully, then gestured the girl to lean closer. ❝ I know his secret--and that is that he is.. ❞ She could hear the familiar steps of said man, as she grinned and whispered into the girl’s ear. ❝ Surprisingly ticklish. ❞ She caught Mihawk’s gaze over the girl’s head, catching the way he narrowed his gaze at her. Mishil blinked with mock innocence as the girl gasped in delight and covered her mouth. ❝ Really? ❞
❝ Mishil. ❞ She laughed at the low, warning drawl of her name. ❝ What? We’re bonding here Carina~! Lil’ Birdie here’s just showing off her carrots, good for some stew hm? ❞ He rolled his eyes, giving his head a shake. He made a gesture for them to follow, Mishil nudged Birdie ahead. ❝ Go take those into the kitchen for a wash, hm? ❞
❝ Yes’m. ❞ Birdie picked up her small basket of carrots and rushed inside with the energy and enthusiasm expected of a child her age. Boundless energy. Mishil fell into step beside him, and felt his fingers playfully tug at the length of her hair. His mouth brushed her ear, breath warm. ❝ Last I checked, you’re the ticklish one here. ❞ Skilled finger’s danced along her side and she inhaled sharply, quickly snatching his hand as she stifled a laugh. ❝ Dracule. ❞ He tickled her again until she squeaked and jolted against him. Mihawk dipped his head, stealing a kiss. ❝ Minx. Keep misbehaving and being ticklish will be the least of your worries. ❞
She thumped his chest lightly, ❝ Promises promises---but you’ve got to make dinner first, don’t keep the child waiting. ❞ Still, she did pause to squeeze his hand, her expression softening. ❝ Hey... It was good of you to save her. She’s a good kid. ❞
❝ Hm, you like her too? ❞
Mishil cleared her throat, veiling her own embarrassment. ❝ She’s very... Cheery... And sweet. ❞ And she liked this side of him... Not that she’d admit it.. yet. ❝ Now shoo, go prepare some delicious dinner while I get the table ready. ❞ He scoffed, ❝ Ordering me in my own castle? ❞
She passed him with a playful wink, ❝ Of course. I’m a pirate after all. ❞

❛ Why can’t I come with you? ❜ //From Birdie

Atria's shoulders hunched up slightly at the sound of the young girl's voice. It wasn't all that often she had to try and sneak out to avoid Birdie, but with the potential danger of the mission she had been given, she wished to avoid disappointing her.
But Atria honestly should've known better-
"Ah, Birdie!" She said, waving her hands slightly in front of her. "I didn't think you'd know I was leaving...Was it that obvious..?" Atria chuckled sheepishly. "You know I'd love to take you with, but this time it's super dangerous, okay?" She sighed, looking just a bit sympathetic.
She bent just a little at the waist, placing her hands on Birdie's shoulders and smiling sweetly. "I promise to bring you back something special, though. Will that make it up to you?" Atria wondered softly.

Birdie held out a flower towards the lady. It was a small, white daisy she had picked earlier when coming across some wild flowers. It was initially for herself, but after coming across the quiet woman, Birdie felt compelled to give it to her it in an attempt to brighten up her day. "Here Miss! It's pretty like your eyes!" She said, smiling.

@muselexum "I'm a bird too!" Birdie flaps her arms like wings, skipping around Marco in circles.
SHE SKIPS around him and he can’t contain the wide grin upon his lips; truly children were one of the phoenix’s biggest weaknesses and this one is simply too adorable.
❝Is that so?❞ he asks with a light laugh, kneeling down so he is on eye level with her. ❝What kind of bird are you then? It must be a very cute one-yoi~❞

@muselexum asked : Birdie ran up to the towering revolutionary that had returned from a mission. "Welcome home!" The girl chirped with a grin, holding up a flower.
there was a few habits he had developed because of this bright child one that he was quite grateful for this day namely cleaning up before entering the chambers, after seeing battle fields filled with ashes and blood it was a relief.
it all it was for her generation they worked for one without these never-ending strife.
“ i’m home ” the taller kneeling down allowing a gloved hand to ruffle her hair before plucking the flower from her grasp. “ you didn’t run too far to find this did you ? ”

@muselexum | Positivity meme – Not accepting!
{ I apologize for taking so long to answer these, but there is just so much to say! }
Lexi, you are a fellow OPRP dinosaur and we have shared this space for such a long time. I remember your old blogs as such a huge part of what made this community so welcoming and fun to be a part of. I remember seeing your art years ago and you have improved so considerably while still maintaining your trademark style which I absolutely adore. We both went on hiatus for several years and while it's a shame that we haven't gotten around to it sooner, I am beyond happy that we really got to know each other after our return to the community last year! I feel like it just clicked with you!
You are such an incredibly talented person and a true inspiration to me, whether it's art, edits or writing. Not only that but you're also hilarious, like damn, leave some charisma for the rest of us ;u; Your heart of gold is so full of kindness and compassion and your brain is filled to the brim with wonderful and angsty ideas and I feel so blessed that you share them with me.
It's so easy to talk to you, and as a person who often struggles to reach out to people due to fearing that I come off as overbearing and/or annoying, I can't tell you how much I appreciate this ease in our conversations, no matter the topic. Whenever we talk, you are always so supportive and kind and I am so grateful for it. I never feel awkward running ideas by you and it's always an absolute blast to chat with you.
You are a phenomenal writer with such a good grasp on all of your muses. I just love interacting with them, whether they are canon characters or original ones – they all feel like a part of the One Piece universe to me. The first that comes to mind when I think of your blog is, of course, Akane! She is such a wonderful example of a well-developed character who feels like a real person with her own drive/past/personality! I love how you explore all of her facets and the complicated relationships that weave into her fate. *clenches fist* I JUST WISH YOU AND JULIE BOTH WOULD LET HER BE FINALLY HAPPY. DAMN YOU CROCODILE. Even your less active muses like Birdie and Lily are absolute joys to interact with and see on the dash. And you already know how I feel about Haru because I LOVE this badass manipulative cat lady with a horrible past! Rayleigh as well is so much fun to meme about and write with. I really wish that I could have interactions with all of your muses because I am hella greedy and they are simply amazing. I’m enjoying all of our threads immensely and I am always excited to get a reply from you, despite our steadily growing piles c': Just throw them all at me, I am waiting here with open arms.
Every day I feel so blessed that you reached out to me concerning AceLamy because I absolutely ADORE our little ship to bits. It might be the rarest of rare pairs and initially sounds like such a bad idea regarding Lamy's fire PTSD but it works and it's beautiful. They are such a delight and I can't wait to draw more fanart of them because they are both precious, hilarious and heartbreaking together ;u; The potential for fluff/healing/comfort and loss/hurt/death is endless with this ship and I am so looking forward to developing it further with you! I feel so blessed to have you as a ship partner, honestly.
"Do you put the balls in the condom too?" still cracks me up Every. Single. Time.
Lexi, I adore you, you are such a brilliant, beautiful person, a true meme connoisseur, incredible writer and artist. An all-round inspiration to me and a wonderful friend. You enrich my life. Here's to sharing more angsty 2000s AMVs and memes with each other! ♥️
Ps. I know I don't have to give your love back. I want to because you deserve it.

@muselexum ; The young girl mimicked Sabo’s signature claw, landing a playful attack on his stomach, “Dragon claw!”
THERE’S AN HONORED GRIN threatening to slip upon the chief of staff’s lips to witness his little friend mimic his own moves — surely, one can only be flattered when a child chooses them for inspiration, but he can’t show a smile now.
Because when a kid chooses you to play with, you have no choice but to play along, and he does — feigning mock pain, Sabo falls back, letting out a grunt and clutching on to his stomach.
❝Ow! You got me!! That’s so strong, it hurts —❞
