Some favorite impressions/voices from Maxine this season. Everyone say thanks to Sara for a great performance. Had to include the few moments people give this same energy back at the end
"And she was like you'll need it and uh guys that was a very low moment for me" that's my little mini me who I will defend and protect no matter what<333
still a little weird sometimes feeling SO seen by a fictional character but uhhh it's fine
Really feeling a certain type of way(hurt? Confused? All of the above?) cause all the way up until Abby said this I was literally thinking about how obsessed I was with Maxine’s outfit. I also appreciate knowing I’m not the only one who refers to their clothing as “ugly cute”
One of my all time personal favorite moments out of the whole entire show. I have such a soft spot for Maxine and Ellen
I like that they're diving a bit more into the whole 'Max only allows herself to be truly sad when she's alone' thing this season
I also only noticed during this rewatch that this is only a couple scenes after Abby and Ginny are venting to each other about how mean Max is being(which is fair- she totally is) I like that this show never gives us much room to form a solid opinion on a person one way or another
Also, with the amount of scenes we see her stalking Sophie's instagram, you have no idea how many times when this season first came out I was thinking "Oh, don't stalk their instagram Maxine. You never do that. Don't do it!!" I basically had to make a pact with myself when I was about 18?? not to stalk any exes instagram ever again. You're just overthinking what might have been, wallowing in what was and/or constantly trying to see what they're up to?? It's not worth it!!!!
Forever and always entertained by the slow realization as they all hear the lyrics to Hunters super sad song. Maxine's "gas up the band" and "it's a sad song but it's great!" = Meeee. I felt that
Look at these responses. They're kind of a good indicator as to who they are as people. Samantha is smiling because?? Who knows. Norah is concerned but in more of a surface level way. Then there's Max who always feels things a thousand levels deeper. SO concerned and empathetic
Also always really liked this extremely quick shot of Max watching Hunter talk about Ginny before he even sings the song. I've always liked to think she has that in mind afterward when she decides to "gas up the band". Also, little bonus thing. I read in an interview once where the creator/writer said that Maxine's response to things in general is to "gas up the band" - that she is more or less a self appointed cheerleader for those around her
Gonna forever and always appreciate Maxine's response to her overwhelming frustration in this moment. I mean, this is how we all sorta express ourselves when our frustration reaches its peak right? Right?
Before I move onto the next episode I couldn't stop thinking about how, as realistic as the breakups are in this show, the aftermath scenes are just as realistic and some of the moments in this one are hilarious to me because of that
I hate HATE knowing that I've said something like the whole "what level does she want" spiel at some point. Just all of this. It goes right to the soul
