ok im still thinking about that wildly lesbophobic post. it's kind of hilarious how much it talks about second wave feminism because it's founded on a pretty essentialist view like. it literally says excluding men also excludes trans women (false). i think a lot of people who argue about the restrictive borders of lesbianism (and im sure other identities too) have all these hard lines. like i also don't define lesbianism by "no men" because it's not about them. i don't like the definition "non men loving non men" because im sure there are non men who don't want to be included. it's about women, and womanhood isn't a static definition. like there isn't one cookie cutter shape of woman and i exclude all people who don't fit into it.
also like using a term that is widely used and has grown outside of its original context isn't the same as supporting the person who coined it. like richard dawkins invented the word meme are you claiming all people who make memes agree with his ideology.
you can look at old feminist works and say by todays standards these wouldn't hold up but if we interpret them through a lense of things that are more commonly understood now we can still find them useful.
just because I hate joe biden and so does the conservative nutjob down the street doesn't mean we have the same ideology. like these arguments are all very flimsy.
also for the love of god please stop saying lesbian feminists of the 1960s invented terf bullshit. like that's literally a terf talking point. they want to say they're protecting lesbians. terfs are mostly straight because like every form of bigotry it exists to make those on top more powerful and those on the bottom more exploited. sometimes people who are oppressed on one axis get sucked into the idea that they can get some power by crushing those beneath them, but the idea doesn't start with them. just because there are some lesbians who are terfs doesn't mean being a terf is a "lesbian thing".
also while we're at it: if it has nothing to do with hating trans people, stop saying its terfy. you're not helping anyone. i don't know how to further explain it than this: hurting one group of people doesn't and will never help another group of people. lesbophobia doesn't kill transphobia.
