#with other characters i tend to default to things like “sweetheart” and “darling” and “dear” #plainly because well... not only are they cute they're also period-appropriate for fantasy stuff #but i just... get into this boy's headspace #and all I can hear is “babe” spoken teasingly early on #to get a rise out of her #and “baby” sincerely much later #it's still mostly teasing but in a tender and sweet way #and i can hear her scoff sarcastically and say something about how him seeing her as an infant would be a wrinkle in their relationship #but inside she's like “fuck. holy fuck. fuck. shit. why do i like that. i don't. do I?
