“I think we are stuck.” It was really a mistake to get her to follow him into the little niche – the perfect hiding place for a game of hide and seek, especially it was against Mablung. Sasha had gone first, smaller than him, and Beleg second. But his foot had slipped, and it was now wedged tightly in a gap in the stone, trapping them both.

“I can’t get my foot out. Fuck.” He squirmed, but it did not help. “Is this a bad time to admit I am claustrophobic?”

“What do you mean we’re stuck?” Panic edged her voice as she wiggled in the tight space beneath him, her body already trembling as she looked up and saw nothing but rock and Beleg. Why had she agreed to leave the kingdom or play a game in the forest? Obviously she was just going to ruin it for them all.

“Maybe I can help pull it out?” Sasha tried to reach for his foot but her fingertips only grazed his ankle. “Do you think Mablung will find us soon?”
