Hi, I'm a long time lurker on your blog, (love it by the way, very entertaining!) and after reading the article you posted entitled 'View from my sofa' Radio Times Sept' 2018, I'm confused where it says that the Goode family have lived in North London for about a year and a half. I thought they had bought a home somewhere in Surrey around 2014/15. Can you shed some light on where they actually live? (No I'm not a stalker, just confused) Thanks.

Hi to you too.  That’s really kind of you.  Thank you for lurking.  OH MY - I’m SO confused about where Matthew lives as well so this is a VERY long answer.  Sorry. 

Like you I don’t want to know for stalking purposes [honestly] coz Matthew and his family need privacy but it would be nice to know roughly where he calls home now.   I’m being a bit lazy coz I did an answer to the same question x 2 a few months ago so I’m cutting and pasting some of my answers below coz it’s a confusing story when you piece together the info’ he has given out in interviews and what’s publicly available on-line.

Yes Matthew and Sophie lived in Teddington when the family returned to the UK from living in New York in 2015.  That was verified by @nici98se​ from the residential listings and there were lots of sightings of him doing exciting things like buying lightbulbs and shopping in Waitrose around the Teddington/Kingston area.  [what a starry life he leads!] Then he referred to sorting out a mortgage for a new place in an interview – he was saying that bank managers are wary of lending actors cash!  He had just got off the phone from his bank manager before the interview.   I can’t find the interview in the press archive [GRRR – but no time to re-read his interviews] but I think it was around 2017. Anyway – he refers to a new house in interviews so we know he moved from Teddington around that time and we assumed that it was to the place he describes in the Radio Times article.  He mentions that Sophie had walls taken down in their new place [she’s an interior designer now after years as a sales director in fashion] so I’m guessing they didn’t move in straightaway after buying it.

Matthew said in the Radio Times interview that he lives in ‘North London’  - BUT that was the only interview where he says that – all of the rest have referred to Surrey.   Then a weird thing happened to me  - maybe a year before the RT interview a client noticed MG’s picture on my I pad and just said ‘He lives down the road’.  Anyway I didn’t immediately rush over and set up camp with a long lens!   I drove past on my way to the next meeting and glanced over - that’s all.  Nice house. Bigger than average but not flashy.  Builders in.   Anyway I kept quiet about it until the Radio Times Interview seemed to confirm what I had been told. [ There are lines you don’t cross - even tho’ I might post pictures of his bum!  OK - I might post A LOT of pictures of his bum - but the difference is that they are from movies and tv - not taken with a long lens into his family home.  ; ) ]  THEN in a couple of interviews more recently Matthew has changed the story from ‘North London’ back to Surrey - so WTF???    Anyway coz I was confused I did some low key non-stalkery research [Seriously I just checked one residential listing site - hardly an in-depth search!]   The place my client pointed out to me in North London [I’m still not being specific about where] lists Sophie as a resident but the place seems to have several other people listed there as well.  So now I think it’s either a place she owns/rents out or uses for business OR maybe they were staying there while the new house was refurbed.  

SO – where does he live? I don’t know!  One minute he says North London and the next he says Surrey. But I’m inclined to think that he is still in the Surrey/Kingston/Richmond area because he has family here (half-sister in Hampton / brother in Kingston/Richmond) so it would make sense to have babysitters around!  Coz they used to live in Teddington – very close to his family which is super handy so maybe they didn’t stray far after all.  

Anyway - wherever he lives - I hope he is happy there.  

PS If you don’t know - Surrey is just to the south of London and an easy commute.  Here’s a little map that shows the north Surrey border area and how close it is to central London -
