#tbc this is not directed at anyone in patricular!!! and im not saying these terms are inherently bad at all!!!! #im just saying. Ive seen sooo much of just ppl people being like “omg this is so dreamcore!!” and then its an impressionist painting #or “weirdcore” art inspo compilations that are VERY CLEARLY SURREALIST!! GIRL THAT IS SALVADOR DALI!! #There's nothing with these terms if they're refering to other things that dont fall under this stuff #like. if maybe you're talking about that one category of art that specifically features a lot of eyes and object heads and body horror #paired with a lot of mushrooms and stuff #then sure use weirdcore because that is a specific niche of art that yeah still falls under surrealism but a specific subcategory #but i hate hate hate this new trend of replacing ENTIRE ART MOVEMENTS that have influenced art for decades or even centuries #and watering the entire essence of what it is down to “aesthetics” #anyway sorry for being a pretentious art student <3 peace and love on planet earht #cas rambles
