the narrator. human (perhaps not? ooh). 22. an artist working at a convenience store, usually working the night shift. ex high school theatre kid. lives with two of her three best friends. loves true crimes shows but sceptical about the supernatural; watches ‘ghost hunter’ shows with her friends. can’t drive, frequently walks home alone at night.

quitera gaspar-espina ‘beatriz espina’ — lorena andrea

the overprotective vampire. was a nun in life in spain before she was turned in the early 1900s. came to america sometime in the 1980s/1990s. punishes self with sunlight and a silver rosary for her actions as a vampire. spends her free time needlepointing and making micro mosaics. dropped her father’s surname when she moved to america.

georgia ‘gia’ fauzi — brianne tju

one of josie’s high school friends. met her and atticus in the school’s gsa. one of josie’s two roommates. the bisexual member of the group and currently the only one in a serious relationship. also the one making the most money in the house. she doesn’t trust beatriz.

liz bryan — maya hawke

josie’s childhood friend. they grew up next to each other. was the one to suggest joining their high school’s gsa and the other three lord over her about how bad it was. she was kicked out by her parents for being gay and josie’s family took her in until the pair moved out and started living with gia.

atticus ward — archie renaux

the only guy in josie’s tight-knit friend group. gay. tells the girls to give his number to any guys who won’t back off them. usually driving the other’s around when they need it. runs a moderately successful online store but is also a lower-upperclass trust fund baby.

rudyard - tom sturridge

beatriz’s sire whom she hates. total bastard. doesn’t care for humans and thinks of them as ‘lesser’, has long since forgotten what it was like to be human. turned circa early-mid 1800s. probably takes psychic damage whenever he’s in the same place as beatriz because she’s staring daggers at him.
