          Laudna entered the arena and was quick to find a seat, not wanting to stand for too long. She had heard whispers of the barrel racing event taking place today, and having never seen one in person, it’d be nice to check it out while she was here on vacation. As each competitor rode out, she sat on the edge of her seat, fully invested as they turned with their horses at such an incredible speed. While each rider was impressive, no one caught her eye like the next one did. Striking purple hair, clad with a beautiful blue and white outfit. She easily stood out compared to everyone else, speed unmatched as she dashed out. As she heads towards the second barrel, their eyes briefly meet, attention held for at least two seconds before she heads off to the final one. A chill runs down her spine, unable to shake the moment they had shared. In the brief distance, she can hear the announcer state the new record time that was set by Imogen Temult, which shakes her out of her frozen state.

          Evening finally falls as she ventures out into the town after taking a break at her hotel once the event ended, curious as to what was alive during this time of day. The atmosphere was different compared to the afternoon. More quiet in the streets, yet still managed to captivate her. Eventually she enters a local bar, uncertain of what the social life would be like here in Gelvaan.

          Pools of black stare at locks of lavender as she fully walks in, knowing it was no mistake. It’s the girl from earlier... The racer was sitting in the back corner, no one else present as she sat alone, back towards the rest of the establishment. They’d only locked eyes earlier, yet deep down she knew there was this unspoken connection. No chance to second guess this opportunity, she found herself standing at their table shortly after, dull heart racing in her chest. “Hi...”

I hope this letter finds you well. Heck, I hope it finds you at all. Ain’t ever been to Alfield. I’m not from Wildemount. Not sure I ever mentioned that to you.

Anyway, I heard you and some friends got up to some real big heroics! Savin’ the town and everything! No one mentioned your name, don’t worry. I know you’re a bit private. That’s okay. Not like me. Haha. They just said you was handsome and well a general description of ya. I knew it was you. I knew you’d do something great one day.

Also heard about your group and some crazy ass circus attack? Please write back because I HAVE GOT to hear more about that! People saying a lot of different things about that. I’m sure half of it ain’t even true. Sure the real story is way better. And if you let me write a song about it, I’ll make sure things are accurate before any poetic license is added.

I just wanted to say I was thinking of ya. That’s all really. That party was one of the best nights of my life and not cause we had good booze and good food and got to put on a fancy dress (and a real smart suit). You know how I was-- all down on myself. I do like performing, honest. I wouldn’t be making my livin’ that way if I didn’t. But stuff like that sometimes, you know, fancy people, makes me nervous. And I know how shy you get too, so you being there with me really made a difference. Thank you.

You mean a lot to me, Caleb. I just needed you to know that. You’re a good guy, even though sometimes I think you don’t think too much of yourself. I get it. I feel that way, too, sometimes. Surprise. Haha.

Take care of yourself. Let your new friends take care of you, too. I hope I get to meet ‘em someday. They sound pretty colorful. I think you could use more color in your life, Caleb.

There were some things that a tincture or potion could not save his comparatively human form from. Ailments came and went. The older he became, the more severe they would become and for now, Percy was glad he was young and spry. With enough care it would come and go without needing to waste efforts on magic. Unfortunately and fortunately, he knew Keyleth would offer care. But, maybe an overwhelming amount. He could only hope for the best.

“Tea.” It comes out as more of a raspy demand than an ask, tugging a ratty old blanket tight around his shoulders and over his coat as he felt the chills of a fever rip through his body.

Realizing a moment after how terse he’d been he sighs, rushing his hand through his already bedraggled hair. “Ah... Rather... can you make tea. Please?”

"UH- " LEGION BLINKED. He had been in just about every bad situation one could be in before. He'd been beaten, stabbed, mauled, etcetera, and had to flee several cities. He'd nearly died hundreds of times and taken hundreds of lives. Somehow this more intimidating.

Legion was not someone suited for fashion advice. Both looked at least mildly impractical for a fight. He didn't say that, though. That felt like the wrong answer, actually.

"This one's good, n' it's not like you can't wear the other one another time?" He thinks that's allowed, anyway. Legion is just hoping his clothes are appropriate for this whole thing because he does not have anything else to wear.

Hope was something he had gone so long without so the idea of his own smile giving it to someone else put a small, but good ache in his chest. Jester, for all her pranks and mischief, never teased people in a way that toyed with their feelings. She was a bright spot of kindness even when the world tried to snuff her out. "I think you are talking about yourself now." Both a tease, a rare one, and how he felt about her.

vax is so gentle with her and he always has been so gentle with her though it is all the same something that continues and does not cease to surprise her. she leans into the touch, cheeks flushed but the smile still unwaveringly present upon her face. she wants to hold his hand in place but she stops herself, instead just letting her eyes bounce between his hand and his eyes.

" she says softly, sure that the battle they just finished fully messed it up, especially given the fact that till a moment before she could not see until he had pulled the red curl from her face. shyly, she graps at her staff with both hands. A quick laugh followed by a sigh, there was a reason that she topped up most of her performances with a few ‘sleight of hand tricks’ as she liked to call them. People were cheap and a coin tossed here and there was not enough to support the lifestyle she felt that she deserved. Or at the very least, had gotten used to.

She glanced at the half-elf for a moment, a smile playing on her lips as she put her lyre away.

“But laughing in the face of fear is brave, perhaps stupidly so. After all, we’re not all knights who can slay a dragon.”

And unfortunately, those happened to be everyone’s favourite stories.
