When your van becomes shore power for your trailer! Batteries on the trailer finally died. Good thing I had 300ah and 400w of solar. The updated wiring diagram for the new power system. At the end of last year it was evident that a new power system was going to be needed. I was running out of power and the five year old AGM batteries were not holding the charge as long as they used to. Also, my power needs increased over the years from my original setup. More lights, usb ports, 12v ports, diesel heater, water heater and an inverter. One thing I didn't take into consideration was the temperature. When it's hot, the fridge runs more. When it's cold, I run the diesel heater more. This used more power than the two batteries could provide. Essentially, I needed more storage. Fast forward 5 years later and there's new technology, a Renogy MPPT Solar Controller w/ DC to DC charger, a Renogy 2000 Watt Inverter/Charger and 3 cheaper 100ah Lithium Batteries. This will eliminate unneeded components, have less wires, more efficient use and longer time in the backcountry.
