what does your muse think about "battle gimmicks"? Mega evolution, Z moves, Dynamax and terastallization?
Tumblr media
"They're okay but not necessarily all for me. A lot of people think because my ace is a Charizard I do all of these things. Asharas is not capable of mega evolving because it makes her uncomfortable. I won't force her into changing herself to be better for combat. I have a couple that are, but Fyrim and Pyarox stay at home. My other one would be Aluma, an Aggron. Its a case by case basis on whether the Pokemon is comfortable with handling extreme excess energy to temporarily evolve into a new form with new capabilities. You need a lot of experience to handle that and a lot of trainers just don't have that.
"Z moves are interesting. One shared huzzah of a move between Pokemon and trainer. Asha and I have used that a couple times." Perhaps more if Shay was a fan of Alola. "It can be a tide turner but its not as critically endangering as say Mega Evolution if done wrong. It takes practice. I feel its an interesting balance for battle. Its simple but effective.
"Now with the Dynamax phenomenon, consider its a mix of Mega Evolution and the Z move phenomenon. Any Pokemon can do it, but certain species have alternative forms. An entire skill set is changed with new powerful techniques. I find it more of a spectacle than it needs to be. I wonder how much energy is given to a Pokemon as its less temporary than Mega Evolution. At least returning a Pokemom to their ball ends the effects. I get asked if Asharas can to the Gigantimax thing and she does not. Again she does not like anything that changes her appearance or body.
"Now terastalizing is... something that I find intriguing. One of the reasons I am visiting Paldea. In Johto we discovered the Hidden Power phenomenon. Terastalizing seems like that but at a peak level: rather than the Pokemon having a secret third type affinity, they become it entirely. It changes the battle tide in a complex way and the Pokemon have a strange... crown thing on their head. It doesn't seem or feel as overwhelming as Mega Evolution or Dynamax. You are using inherent power that already existed and are bringing it forward, no catalyst necessary. Any Pokemon can do it as well. I wonder if it is locked to Paldea. I wouldnt be surprised if it was."
