#why can't you guys react to things in moderation #like harper is neither a horrible toxic abuser nor an uwu innocent victim of homophobia #she's a human being who mishandles the situation and acts out in a shitty way when she's put under crazy pressure #like it's not like her fear was unfounded. when sloan found out she immediately threatened to out her then physically attacked her #and then actually outed her in front of her whole family and all of their homophobic friends and political partners just to hurt her #does that excuse that she threw riley under the bus and lied to and about abby? no. #but like that's sort of the point of the movie isn't it #that coming out is a wildly different journey for everyone and while it's easy for some it's completely terrifying for others #and that fear and stress can bring out the worst in people and if that's the case then you gotta deal with it #before it turns you into a person you never wanted to be #ALSO IT'S A FUCKING ROM-COM #ridiculous over the top drama and bad choices are basically the definition of the genre #it's not black and white and it's also not that deep #happiest season
