fake roma are so fucking funny like... you don't want to be in the romani community. i've been friends with fauxmani and they talk so much shit about "gatekeepers" and real roma. you literally want an ethnicity that is easy to fake and you want a space full of other fauxmani who will endlessly validate you. you don't actually want to be romani, you don't want to learn our language or customs beyond the ones that make you feel special (like wearing the dikhlo, tied wrongly, as an unmarried woman). you want there to be "romani names" you can call yourself and "romani recipes" you can make and you get soooo disappointed when you're told our cuisine is mostly family variations on balkan and turkish dishes. you don't get to cherrypick our culture, you're not reconnecting, you're a white gadjo who wants to claim an ethnicity other white americans know nothing about. real roma will always be able to tell you're a liar and that's why you avoid us like the plague. sorry to burst your bubble but you'll never fit in <3
