It was uncanny. Not just the woman's resemblance to the spectre, but the way her life seemed to play out like a darker mirror of the other's. It almost made her wonder that had she lived or simply wasn't able to find peace, she might have become her doppelganger.

"I used to have one, too," Emily said, bringing her misty hands up to the left side of her ribcage. "Right here. When I died, it stopped hurting -- but only on the outside. If you can believe it, it still hurts from time to time..."

There’s sadness on Hermione’s features. She’s not convinced it doesn’t hurt anymore, but even if it truly doesn’t, it’s still quite a deep cut. It makes her feel sad. No one deserves to be hurt this way. She always wishes she could do more to help people.

Victoria sat on the opposite armchair with a smile spread across her face, albeit a somewhat awkward one. She'd never had friends of her own before (unless you counted her husband and their ghost), never attended sewing circles in spite of the magic she could work with a needle, so she was a little out of her depth.

Still, the young woman did what she usually did and pressed on. As she made perfect, delicate stitches on her squares, she tried not to lose herself too much in her work and be a good hostess. After all, lovely Mrs. Barker (how nice to visit with someone who was just 'Mrs.' with all the warmth and genuineness that made up for the lack of a title) deserved as much.

"You'll have to excuse me. I'm not as accustomed to doing this with others." She paused, realizing she'd forgotten to ask before. "Might I get you anything?"
