My mother-in-law said she would dry the laundry and headed to the second floor. I helped her. We both came out on the balcony.
“With such fine weather six hours should be enough to dry them,” she said. “It would feel plain bad to leave dirty laundry behind at the end of the world.”
Just really sincerely like this part. It has such a feeling to it that I can’t describe. Just hanging the laundry as the world is about to end.

“It was a success.”
The Japanese here is 事は成就しました, which might or might not be a Bible quote from Jeremiah 32:24:
あなたの告げられた事は成就しました
Which means “what you spoke has come to pass”, “what you said has happened” etc., the “you” being God.

Maybe the miracle from earlier in Sengawa was a natural occurrence that was bound to happen from the very start, and (...) although I acted like I was responsible for all of it, I was under a terrible misunderstanding; I was merely one of the many pawns manipulated to make this predestined miracle occur.
Or maybe there was an actual God out there who was making me act like one?

[Hikimiya] went around the castle with a measuring tape and a birdwatch counter to figure out all sorts of numbers he was gleefully reporting, like that adding the numbers of chairs and beds on the castle’s first floor gave the exact page number of Seiryouin Ryuusui’s first Kodansha Novels book, Cosmic, that there were as many windows as there were occurrences of ‘Tsukumo Juuku’ in Joker, his second work, or that the total surface area covered by carpets was equal to the number obtained by adding the page counts from the Carnival trilogy books, which counted as the third entry in the series, with the advertisement pages included but not the illustrations, tables of contents, or appendixes. ‘The Castle of Illusions really is full of nods to Seiryouin Ryuusui’s novels,’ he would say.
I’m losing it over this. CANON

Being unable to enjoy the last cherries that would blossom during one’s lifetime... If I were in their shoes, I would be bitter. I loved cherry blossoms. Especially when they just start falling.
This reminded me of the sakura thing with Juuku in Carnival Day. I am not okay.
