have always loved the idea of soap holding a little bit of hero worship for ghost before he’s really met the lieutenant, the legend—because he’s heard rumours and had once witnessed ghost out on the field, and it’s hard not to look up to him.

but then he meets ghost and this man is an absolute loser. yeah, maybe he’s incredibly deadly when he needs to be, but he also tells bad jokes and sews repairs for his own mask and has these stupidly big, brown doe eyes—he’s not who soap thought he would be.

though, that’s not to say he’s disappointed or upset—if anything, it only makes soap’s goals seem that much more attainable, as ghost seems that much more human, despite what the callsign implies. soap will still hold respect, no doubt; but it’s still funny, knowing the truth of ghost’s character.
