Gonna gundam post for a second:
The framing of Zeon as a nazi parallel will never not annoy me. It’s a classic example of a villainous faction with such a solid point and virtuous position that they had to make them do insane murder nonsense to make them the villains.
The framing of the beginning of the gundam UC timeline is all about how the Earth Federation, as the capitalist, militarist elites of their world, so casually disregard the spacenoids that any protest or rebellion is met with complete genocide of their entire space colony. But then Zeon arose and organised to fight back against the enormous injustice done to them by… enacting a genocide on an entire space colony, then knocking the colony out of orbit and crashing it into Australia, ultimately killing millions.
At least we got Zeta Gundam and the rest of UC (except for char’s counterattack) examining that issue.
