#the gang (tries) to psychoanalyze mick schumacher

all those asks and awnsers are so true abt Mick I think a big part is the pressure he is under but I also just think he's just a lot more introverted as a person then Micheal ever was so that also makes it seem like he's more shy then he actually is.
I also feel like he needs an extrovert teammate like a Charles or Dan to bring something more out, in the old Prema vids with saun and nyck you could see more of what I think is the real Mick pop out which I love a lot. I feel like when/if he gets to the main Ferrari team with Charles he could develop into a bit more of like a real person and also a bit more of the Schumacher that we knew Micheal to be like on and of track. Haas is to quiet and reserved of a team to get him out of his safe bubble I think.
The possibility of what he could be and who he was at Prema and is with Seb makes me a big fan of his personally. - f1errari on my main c:
yes!! its weird because you imagine race cars drivers as the type of people who are friends with everyone, and were super sociable and extroverted when they were younger etc… but clearly thats not the case for some drivers (mick, esteban, lance and a few others i can think of seem pretty introverted)
now, as a personal experience, and like you said, introverted people express themselves differently with extroverted people. in this case, with people like daniel or seb, for example. here’s a clip of a press conference with him and daniel, which i find fascinating:
i find the mick/daniel friendship very interesting, and a big part of that is because mick turns into another person next to him. he laughs, he seems more relaxed and he shows just a bit more personality. “it does? my god” “nah i was just showing the guns”
with seb i feel like he explores the fact that he is allowed to show how he feels, take a stand, and how to use your voice for good. i laugh a lot about the seb grid d[redacted], but i feel like he has influenced mick in one way or another… and i’m glad he found some company in f1.
that leads me to the next point: if mick is truly just a bland and boring individual then he would have maybe one friend (a very loose term of friend; a motorsports friend). but he doesn’t. he gets along with seb, esteban, lance, daniel, lewis and others, plus he has been photographed with much of the rest of the grid having an amicable conversation
and regarding the mick in ferrari alongside charles… is not a secret that i’m a huge supporter of this particular line-up, and i’ll hype it up as much as i want to because they bring me enormous joy. that being said i can’t be unbiased as to decipher how micks personality might arise in the team, but what i do know is that he loves ferrari and ferrari loves him, so maybe he’ll feel at home like he felt with prema, and show some personality

You know what, y'all so right besties: Mick is a mystery. I never know what to expect from him, so far I know he seems to be a friendly, well educated and smart young man that seems to be relatable sometimes. This might be controversial BUT: on the other hand, he's a Schumacher, he's a white privileged man and I refuse to put him on a pedestal because of that or baby him for that. There is no way he is sooo educated that he understand the struggles that comes with less privileges and at the beginning of last season, when he answered that question regarding to lewis' activism it showed. I know a lot of people were very quick to defend him but not me tho, I refuse to put a man on a pedestal and ignore when he says something ignorant <3. (especially because their activism would help a person like me lol) So I thought well damn, he probably is someone that is more educated than some other young drivers (Lewis himself said that Mick asked him to educate him, we stan) but I still didn't think he will use his voice to speak up about issues, that might cause a criticism, because he might be to worried about his own brand. But then BOOM this bitch came and said queer rights and even made a post about it and I was like????? Ok ally king we stan, now this is what I expect in 2021/2022 from people with a platform. What I am trying to say (lol sorry for that mess) is that I never know what to expect, but I would rather see him to speak up more and show his personality more even if this means that at some point he will probably say or do something that I highly disagree with, or even find problematic, (because everyone makes mistakes (everyone has those days)) than seeing him being so controlled and professional all the time. I don't wanna jinx it but I have a feeling that he might suprise us with some of his opinions or personal traits (in a good way tho) Anyways, we stan Mick Schumacher, the mystery, the great ally, the dog dad and part time photographer, the man that has specific thoughts about a zombie apocalypse (whatever this means..., 🤔)
hii also sorry for taking so long replying to this but just know that i loved this ask so much because my brain works exactly like this dkfjhg so thank you this was very very interesting :-)
again, to not clog the tag i'll add a read more:
there's nothing much i can add to this because i went through this exact same train of thought last year, so yes. yes to all of this.
i do wanna remark the: "he's a Schumacher, he's a white privileged man and I refuse to put him on a pedestal because of that or baby him for that". amen. to. that. i'm sorry but i refuse to put any celebrity in a pedestal because as much as we think we know them, we know like 50% of their real life and opinions, SPECIALLY when they are privileged cis white men.
however, mick seems to be doing alright? at least he's on a good path methinks.
i still haven't gotten over the pride t-shirt post captioned ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜... like as a queer person those are the small gestures that makes you hopeful for a better future. and damn, what an impactful post that was. like we have lewis and seb promoting lgbtq+ rights and i'm so thankful to have them both in the grid. they are the two most successful drivers on the grid and using their influence for good. but also i think it was very brave of him posting something like that -in his rookie year in a shitty car-, however "minimal effort" it might've been for some. I wish that was the norm, and that all drivers made efforts like that one, but in a world as homophobic as this one, it's still considered a "political move" (yikes). [just look at the comments of that ig post, its absolutely disgusting... like legit the first comment is "your father would not be proud" what the actual fuck is wrong with people, it makes me sick]
recently he was seen wearing a pro-black lives beanie in black history month, that again, it might've seemed like a small gesture for some, but i do think it sets a precedent. a precedent that he listens, he's willing to learn and act on it.
again, this is just my impression and what it looks like on the outside. will i absolutely praise him and go around saying "my white boy is better than yours, stan him instead"? no. abso-fucking-lutely no. but its nice to see him speak up rather than stay silent, and for that i command him
also the man that has specific thoughts about a zombie apocalypse PLS SDKFHJDG yeah.... plus the "a knife, a bomb, a serial killer" bit always gets me as well... what a weird brain hehe

Omg I always thought I am the only one that gets frustrated with Mick's super neutral and professional interviews, I noticed how he always finds a way to not answer the actual question, when it comes to opinions etc, he always gives a media trained answer (I noticed it mostly in german interviews??) I think this poor kid is worried to do or say something wrong, like you said, he already is a brand, he has a huge name on his shoulder, he is probably scared to damage his fathers brand, especially now that Michael isn't in the public anymore and can't speak for himself. How ever, that's why I have such a hard time to connect with Mick, or like him like I like Lewis for example. I don't know who this man is tbh, he seems lovely and chill but idk I just don't know enough about him to imagine him as a actual person, a 22 year old young man. But I see what y'all see in him to hype him up that much, even tho I don't feel the same lmao, like boy I like you but please give us SOMETHING.
ohhh like another anon mentioned, mick did show a bit more personality before getting into f1, specially in prema videos…. like in this 2 minute video where he was really laid-back and showing a different side of him (bless sean, he always brought up the best of mick for some reason)
as far as the reputation thing, yeah… i think you’ve nailed it in the head. he has always been scrutinized, so he had to be really careful with how he answered and i think thats just part of who he is now… like i think something (or someone) different has to happen for him to realize that, people will judge, no matter what… and that’s ok. i would say him acting a certain way wont ruin michael’s reputation but its f1 fans we’re talking about…. everything is possible fjjfk
if you want, i could try to make a compilation of moments that makes me go: ah, this guy is neat, i will support him… if you wanna understand why we like him :-)

Mick is such a mystery tbh… I think he’s private and guarded about his personal life for obvious reasons but it’s almost like he doesn’t know that he can show his personality and keep his privacy (like Seb!!!). He doesn’t talk about music or tv shows or video games and he acts like he doesn’t have strong opinions about anything (even about racing stuff) … like go girl give us nothing (affectionate) I’m obsessed
exactly!!!!!!!!!! god yeah it truly is Just Like That huh… i just keep thinking that one day he’ll say fuck it and lose the well behaved media-trained guy persona, and just go bonkers instead :-)

I feel the same way about mick omg we can’t even fake psychoanalyze him on this webbed site because literally who is she…. He feels so one dimensional and uninterested in becoming a Brand because he technically was born into one so he’s just there chilling? A literal nepotism child but he won F2 and he minds his business… All we know is that he drives in circles, has a dog, and wears under armour
who is she!!!!!!! son of one of the greatest, looked through a magnifying glass since he was a child and we literally just know he drives in circles, has a dog and wears under armour ……
as someone who is interested in him, watches his videos/interviews i got nothing!! not even what music he likes!! i know he likes harry potter and hates la casa de papel (money heist?), likes ferrari and is shy about things he is good at (like speaking french), but thats info that we can get in a 10 minute conversation with a human being we just met fjdkfb

IM HERE TO PSYCHOANALYZE MICK TOO!!
when he was with prema he was so funny and talkative and i think that comes down to him being more comfortable with his work environment (obviously everyone at haas loves him but there’s something holding him back there i think) so if he just had a better teammate i think he’d get his personality back. i truly believe that ferrari mick will deliver us from evil
hell yes!! all the pals are welcomed to psychoanalyze him :-)
yes, absolutely. mick spent pretty much all of his feeder series career in prema so they treated him like family…. god i miss prema mick so so much weep, he seemed so happy and carefree
to be fair, i think he is comfortable in the haas team and i just know all the mechanics/workers have his back, because they really seem to be fond of him… so i think the issue here is the fact that he is now in f1. like he made it, he’s finally racing in the sport he wanted to… but that means a lot more pressure, more eyes on him and less forgiveness for his mistakes
i think he just needs time? time to adjust, to find his boundaries when it comes to his private life and his expectations… but you’re right, a better teammate (someone with more experience) might help him get there faster

Oh don't get me wrong, I think Mick is lovely and a good driver too. But I haven't seen enough of him to actually connect with him, he seems very bland to me most of the time. He almost feels robotic sometimes, with his nice smile and professional answers, almost never showing his raw emotions (except a few times - which I kinda liked lol) it's very sad because this man is only 22 years old, he's sooo young and he acts sooo mature and well behaved (which is a good thing) but I can definetly see why he's so liked in the fandom, he seems very smart, nice and educated. But for me idk we barely know anything about him. I would totally love to hear more of your thoughts about his persona or see videos of him showing a little bit more of his personality, because I am sure he has some of his dad's fire (even tho I feel bad that everyone compares them all the time, Mick is his own person) hope that makes sense, I still think he's very lovely and pretty ofc!! :)
and that is totally fair and valid! i see no reason why everyone should like mick :-) we are lucky to have many drivers -from different series- who have such vastly different personalities, and for the most part each one of us connect to these drivers for different reasons (well i say for the most part because there's also the good list-bad list phenomenon in f1blr that i wont explain rn) but it's nice to know that you wanna know why we like mick!
[ok quick sidenote... that was all i wrote back when i got this ask, but since then, my mental sanity decided to go rogue. so uh... this answer will be a bit more personal :-) if you're not comfortable with that lmk and i'll write a more level-headed reply]
so i had some days to think, well... what do i like about mick schumacher. i mean thinking about personal biases it could be because he's an attractive man of my age who has good manners and is the son of one of my favorite drivers of all time, with a side of gatekeepy emotions because there were very few of us mick fans when i started this blog (i made this blog right after his flop f2 season, so you can understand that while he had many people that generally liked him and wanted to do good, he wasn't the most popular feeder series driver out there). but diving deeper i don't think thats all of it.
i think the most honest answer i can give you as to why i like him is because i relate to him. a lot. i’m shy and sociable in the spaces i know, but i feel the most comfortable in my own home, with my cats (in his case with his dogs, but you know what i mean). i’m cautious and a perfectionist, i like to keep my thoughts to myself. however, and in spite of that, i consider myself a very complex individual. and my biggest fear... is being perceived as boring. simple as that.
so maybe i’m just projecting, giving him a personality that may not exist, because i need people to also know that i’m more than i show in casual spaces.
does that make sense? like i just don't think that being quiet and keeping things to yourself makes you have 0 personality... maybe it just means that you need more of one on one conversations to let your true personality shine through.
the other answer is that maybe i just like bland people to balance out the more heavy personality-wise drivers like charles, lewis and seb sdkjhf
ok and to try and back-track this conversation and not make everything about me lol, i do think that part of his robotic mannerisms comes with being media trained since forever, specially with a press as shark-like as the motorsports one. he's had to be careful all his life, because the second he gets his guard down, he could face awful personal questions, like the state of his dad.
so yeah, i think thats something he could change giving the right environment and with due time.... but let's not forget that last year was his first season in f1 and couldn't prove much in the dog shit of a car that was the haas in 2021 lmao. so all of his questions in were along the lines of "do you think you're improving" "is haas a good team" "do you get along with ___", yada yada yada. and there aren't that many different ways you could answer those without sounding like an automated answering machine. hopefully the car will work a bit better this year and answer some questions about racing and points from time to time!
[also sorry for taking so long in answering i promise this was always on my mind ♡]

Your last Anon, no but this for real and that's one of the reasons why I'm struggling to make sense of him e.g. in fic, how can you try to do a deep dive into his psyche when there's no water to yeet yourself into... But he's Neat. I think we should launch our Mick is secretly a Fantanocore indie guy propaganda
oh yeah its so hard to imagine mick out of racing for that exact same reason. but we only know one thing, and that thing is that he’s indeed, very neat<3
also hell yeah…. indie mick propaganda until proven wrong hehe. i want him to tell us all about his favorite shoegaze album and what sufjan song he relates to please and thank you
