i told my boss during intern on-boarding today that i’ve been perpetually online since I was 12 and it is now almost a decade later. he was shocked? concerned? amazed? to say the least

#unrelated tag #not spn #tumblrcore #look. he was right. #it was after a really fun training on how our environments shape us as youth #and i was like ‘oh yeah i was the person who put ‘online’ as a shaping environment’ #explained internet friends and how i’ve have some mutuals on twitter for almost 8 years now #everybody else in the training were career nonprofit people who were solidly gen x and were like yeah i played in the dirt as a kid #the superiority complex of making dirt pies yet still doesn't know how zoom works. pick a struggle #truly i don’t think my fav space (twitter) is as loved as it once was and i’m getting soft for tumblr #which is quite funny bc i refused to make a tumblr back in the day bc i thought that brand of fan girl was awful #i wasn’t wrong now was i. but the switch happened and tumblr went to twitter. twitter sucks. then we all fled here. again. #anyways. he was astonished and actually thinks my experience growing up online is valuable to the populations (youth) we serve #this was the first time anyone adult-wise has told me my formative online years weren't useless but actually a tool. it felt really good ngl #intern #internship #intern life
