Renzo Piano Exhibition | Turning Inside Out?

The exhibition is divided into several small sections, each containing one project done by Renzo Piano. Models of various scale are placed on the table or hung in the air, making the room occupied and not seemed spacious.

The delicate hand drawings on the wall indicate the complexity of the building and his considerate thinking process, which plays an important part in making buildings. I don’t usually have a thing for skyscrapers or commercial buildings because they are boring and more or less the same, but the natural curves and innovative use of geometrical shapes in some of his projects impressed me by their beauty of flow and functionality.

However, the Centre Pompidou project didn’t work well with me. It was quite a creative project with an industrial style to some extent, but there is no sense of beauty in it as far as I am concerned and I don’t understand why all the structures were to be placed outside which makes it look like an unfinished construction site. I should probably visit it in person to experience the actual space and see how it feels inside.

Besides that, it was the details he thought through when designing a building that impressed me a lot, including how the lights radiate after reflection, etc. After all, detail is the key to success.
