prime numbers for the fic writer ask game!
2. How do you spend your time when it comes to fanfiction? Are you primarily a fic reader, writer, or a perfect 50/50 split of both?
I definitely write it more than I read it. I tend to only read those that grab me or that have good recommendations and I'm very picky lmao
3. Are there any fics that inspired you to write what you do?
I'm not sure what this means? None of my current projects were inspired by other fics, no.
5. What are your fanfic pet peeves? Do they have a huge effect on whether or not you decide to read something?
Already answered!
7. Do you prefer to read short fics or long fics?
Short ones cause I'm lazy lmao but if I can find a long one that I really enjoy I'll bite the bullet
11. How do you come up with your fic titles?
Uh... badly? I really don't like most of my fic titles. Mostly they sound corny and stupid from my estimation and half of them don't Vibe. I just kinda pull something out of my ass last-minute
13. Do you outline your fics? How much of a headache would someone get if they just looked at an outline of yours without reading the fic?
I do outline them if they're longish. My outlines can be everything from a meticulous play-by-play to "and then THE THING happens!!!11!one!!!1" so it's a toss-up whether they'll be decent or completely nonfunctional.
17. How obsessively do you sit and stare at your fic after you’ve just posted and wait for feedback?
TOO MUCH
19. Do you edit your fics after you write them, or do you prefer to just hit post and run (because it’s someone else’s problem now)?
Wait, people are out there releasing first drafts into the world with no polishing whatsoever?!
Bro
Yeah no, I do at least 3-4 editing runs before I publish. I don't do full rewrites, I'm not THAT intense, but yeah.
23. What’s your absolute favorite trope to write?
Already (barely) answered!
29. Have you ever written for an exchange or event of some kind? Which one(s)? Did you enjoy it?
YES I've done it three times.
Two were for the History Ficathon that runs every year in the Shakespeare fandom.
Precious Deceit was my first one. I don't care for it and I still don't think I had a good grasp of the actual prompt (nor do I have enough historical knowledge of the time period to know about transgender identities in the late Middle Ages) but I gave it a go. Somehow it got 300 hits, to my chagrin.
Request and Requisition was my second, and this one I initially REALLY didn't want to write but I ended up having a blast and loving the result. Also to my chagrin, it has less than 50 hits. I cannot win.
The last was for a TKLUTS gift exchange and it's called A Game of Art. I had fun writing it. It's kind of goofy and light.
31. Of the characters you write for, which is your favorite? Has that choice been swayed at all by your followers/readers’ reactions to certain ones?
Already answered!
37. Give an update on your current WIP - if you don’t have one, give a sneak peek to a title or idea that you have and would like to write.
I have four WIPs.
A Deltarune fic involving Kris running into Gaster (in which they talk and it doesn't just end with Kris getting The Egg)
A supposed 3-part fic about Goemon (of Lupin III fame) and his first romantic encounter with each of his three partners. Going nowhere fast, but I refuse to let go of the idea
The infamous Ghost Fic which isn't actually infamous and goes from exciting to overwhelming and back. Was actually kind of a Vent Fic/Passion Project and I still am not wholly convinced that it isn't an Exceptionally Dumb Idea
Chapter 2 of a fic called "Two for the Show" which I wrote and posted and said "maybe I'll do a second chapter someday lmao who knows" but I didn't plan to do one and it got more hits than any of my recent fics and several requests for a second part so now I'm like. Well damn. Guess I Gotta.
41. What’s your most popular fic (with the most notes on tumblr, most hits/kudos on ao3)?
My most popular fic is technically one called A Terrible Conflict but since it's a collab I don't really consider it wholly "mine" and therefore don't really count it as my most popular fic. I mean I didn't even write half of it.
My most popular fic that I can take full credit for is called Measuring the Depths. Someday I hope to break 4 digits on my own, but it's never happened before. *sighs wistfully*
Still, 800 ain't bad.
43. Talk about a positive experience with fanfiction or the fanfiction community that you will always remember.
Any time someone leaves a nice comment on my fics it's a positive experience!
