There are definitely ships and tropes and takes and headcanons I don’t vibe with, and occasionally people put things into fanfic and meta that I find distasteful or even offensive, but I think people in this fandom (including me sometimes) can be a little rigid, especially when it comes to fic. Like, I don’t know, not everybody writes fic as a manifesto about the Exact Correct Takes on Canon. Sometimes people are just like “what if this happened.”

#this was inspired by two separate posts about other characters being friends with Eddie #(disapproving of those friendships in Fic I mean) #not even the great would will like Eddie debate #they were about Nancy (too much of a bitch natch) #and Robin (only allowed to be friends with Steve I guess) #also people complaining about shipping Robin with girls she’s never met in canon #like yeah duh that’s why people are writing fic #so they can meet. in our imaginations. #also does anyone ever really ‘meet’ anyone in the show anymore
