🍰🍁💤📚 for Mira? (ur oc is super pretty btw)
thank u for ur kind words anon 🥺!!
from this ask game here!
🍁was answered here :>
🍰 - favourite cake flavour? are they specific about types of cakes?
she’s not too picky about cake flavours, unless it’s overpoweringly vanilla or sickeningly sweet. cake is cake - she’d eat it with no complaints.
her favourite type of cake would be black forest cake! chosen because of the german origin and well. her hometown is very much a black forest :^)
💤 - do they fall asleep easily? what helps them sleep?
she’s the type that stays up relatively late and wakes up early all while still having enough energy to make it through the day. her sleep pattern also varies a lot - it can range from terribly light to so heavy you’d think she’s dead.
mira tends to get cold easily so multiple blankets are a must - even better if they’re weighted. moreover, due to her strong sense of smell, she’s big on pillow sachets. to her, there’s nothing more calming than the scent of lavender before falling asleep.
📚how were they at school? what is their best subject? what is their worst subject? do they have a favourite subject?
definitely on the valedictorian side of the student body. you’ll never catch her off the rankings list. one of her personal favourite subjects would be biology as she finds it interesting to learn about how the bodies of creatures function.
her family comes from a lineage of figures knowledgeable in toxicology, with her being no exception. as such, her best subject would be poison making. on the other hand, however, it seems being studious balances out her ineptitude regarding anything physical - her worst subject would be anything in the physical education department.

A steady beeping noise and the sound of hushed voices. The feeling of crisp sheets. A sterile smell mixed with the faint scent of… flowers? Your eyes fluttered open and were met with the bright light of fluorescents.
“You’re awake,” the sound of Neji’s relieved voice cut through your confused thoughts and pulled you into the present. You looked around, eyes adjusting to the brightness and recognized the white walls of the hospital. Then it all came crashing over you. The mission, the knife, how relieved you’d felt when you saved Lee. The confusion when you noticed the horrified looks on your teammates faces, and the understanding when you saw the blood on your own shirt. And then… nothing.
“Where’s the team?” You asked frantically, trying to push yourself up into a sitting position only to be met with a sharp pain in your abdomen. Neji looked at you sternly, his lips turning down in a tight frown at the way you winced and put out a hand to push you back gently into the bed.
“They’re here. I told them to wait until you woke up.”
Your mind started racing with all the worst case scenarios that could’ve happened after you blacked out. “Are they-“
“Everyone’s fine,” he assured you plainly, “I’m more concerned about you.”
You relaxed back into the mattress and let out a relieved sigh, “Good.” Knowing that your risk had paid off made the pain seem insignificant. You turned to the man at your bedside with a reassuring smile, “I’m okay, Neji. I’ll be good as new after a little rest.”
You squeezed his hand lightly, expecting him to relax at least a little at your words but to your surprise the scowl knitting together his features stayed in place and he pulled his hand away crossing his arms over his chest.
“That’s not my point. How could you be so reckless?”
You blinked a few times, taken aback by his unexpected words. You knew he was bound to be concerned about your injury but the last thing you expected after waking up the hospital bed was to be chastised by your own boyfriend.
“What do you mean ‘reckless’?” you protested, “I-I saved Lee!”
“And look where you ended up because of it,” he accused, gesturing vaguely at your injured state. “When you took my place on the mission you agreed that you would be careful. I would have never let you go if I had known you’d be so careless with your safety!”
“So what was I supposed to do, Neji? Let them kill Lee?” You had raised your voice a little more than you meant to on the last question but you were too indignant to regret it just yet. How dare he scold you for protecting a friend! He would’ve done the same thing and you knew it, and so you said so. “If you’d been on the mission it would just be you in this bed and not me!”
Refusing to let you goad him on, he kept his voice deathly calm as he narrowed his lavender eyes and replied, “I would have preferred that.”
You scoffed and rolled your eyes. “Of course you would’ve,” you muttered under your breath.
He frowned but ignored your comment and continued, “If you can’t keep yourself safe when helping a comrade you shouldn’t do it at all.”
You looked back at his disapproving expression, the initial hurt being replaced by a boiling frustration. He knew the risks you took on as a shinobi on a daily basis. How was this any different? You’d protected Lee from being hurt, possibly killed, you weren’t going to apologize for that. Something in you snapped and you spat out the next words with as much sting as you could muster.
“You know what? I should be resting right now, if you’re just going to treat me like a child you can go,” you huffed, crossing your arms and fixing your gaze on the wall ahead of you.
He hesitated for a split second, his lips parting slightly and his eyes widening momentarily before fixing themselves into a scowl once more as he turned on his heel and strode towards the exit, his long hair swinging behind him. “Fine.”
You stole a glance of his back out of the corner of your eye as he left, turning quickly once more when he looked back a final time before closing the door behind him. The latch clicked and immediately you regretted asking him to leave, a deep frown settling across your face. The pain in your abdomen was now accompanied by a dizzy, sinking feeling and you felt incredibly alone in the plain white room despite the myriad of rushed voices shouting in the hall. Why would I do that? you berated yourself. He was the one meant to lead the team, and when Tsunade needed him for other business he was ready to postpone the mission, but you had insisted. Why put it off? You were a capable kunoichi and you knew his teammates as well as he did, you would just take his place. He was never comfortable with the idea but you pushed, and finally he relented. Of course he blamed himself for your state. You groaned and covered your face in your hands, sinking back into the mattress and feeling like a fool for asking the one person who’s comforting presence you wanted most to leave.
Meanwhile in the hallway, Neji was processing the same emotions. He knew he should’ve stayed, held your hand and told you he was happy you weren’t hurt more… but you were just being so unreasonable! You knew how much he cared about your safety, it was his number one priority, how could you have risked it when he wasn’t there to protect you?
“Neji!” A pair of familiar voices interrupted his thoughts and he looked up to see both his teammates rushing from the bench where they were waiting down the hall to where he still stood outside the door to your room.
“Is (y/n)-chan okay?” Lee demanded tearfully, taking hold of the Hyuga man’s shoulders and shaking him frantically. “Can we see her now?!”
Tenten scowled and pried the distraught man’s grip free, smacking him lightly on the back of the head. “Calm down Lee,” she scolded. The man in the jumpsuit sniffled and did his best to compose himself, tears still falling from his wide eyes, but released his comrade from his grip and stepped back.
Satisfied she had Lee under control she turned to Neji and asked for herself, more calmly, “Can we see her now though? Is she awake?”
Neji didn’t answer right away, instead throwing a quick glance to the closed door and frowning almost imperceptibly as he remembered the harsh words he’d thrown your way and nodded. Almost. Tenten noticed the tense way he held his jaw and cocked her head to the side.
“What did you say?” she asked, the question thick with accusation. After so many years on the same team as the austere byakugan user she knew better than most that he could be severe even when the situation called for a more gentle approach.
He resented the question, even if he knew deep down it was called for. “It doesn’t matter,” he defended. The words didn’t even convince him though, a sickly sense of disappointment settling itself in his stomach as he thought about you on the other side of the wall, injured, alone, and worst of all even more uncomfortable because of his scolding.
She rolled her eyes and sighed, wondering for the millionth time why she couldn’t have been put on a team with some normal people instead of a flamboyant showboater and an emotionally stunted prodigy. “Of course it does, Neji!” she exclaimed, “She’s your girlfriend, the things you say always matter.”
He shrugged, trying his best to keep his emotions in check in front of the others. Something that used to be second nature to him, now seemed so frustratingly difficult, and all because of you. A part of him longed for the times before he knew you, before he’d fallen head over heels in a way he thought only happened in stories. When things were simple, and his responsibilities as a shinobi were the only thing that mattered. The second the thought crossed his mind though he wanted to take it back. He knew that wasn’t true. Maybe he wasn’t quite used to it yet, but the softness you brought out of him, the way you loved and nurtured it and made him feel like a new man… it felt right.
His shoulders dropped and he looked back towards the hospital room where you waited, all his anger now drained from his body and replaced by the urge to wrap you up in his arms. “I… I should go back in there,” he mumbled, not knowing yet exactly what he would say to you but knowing he needed to say it nonetheless. “You’ll take care of him?” he nodded towards Lee, who was still sobbing quietly and sprawled dramatically against the doorframe to your room.
Tenten nodded and waved her hand dismissively. “When have I not? Now get in there and figure things out so we can see her, we were worried too you know.
Neji chuckled in spite of his mood, feeling grateful for his two best friends who loved and cared for you just as much as he did, and turned towards the door, hesitating slightly as he held the knob before turning it quickly and stepping back inside before he could stop himself.
“Where’s he going? Can we go in too?” Lee’s confused voice carried through the open door before it closed, followed by a quick, “Shut up, Lee!” from Tenten.
The disturbance caused you to look up and you noticed your boyfriend standing at the door looking uncharacteristically unsure of himself, his pale eyes focused on his feet. You wanted to rush over and hug him, apologize for telling him to leave, but from your wounded position in the bed all you could do was stare at him longingly as he made his way slowly back to the chair at your bedside.
“Thank you for coming back,” you whispered, just loud enough for him to hear.
He took his seat beside you and took your hand in his own gently, “I should never have left. You need me right now, I’m so sorry darling.” He kissed your hand softly and went on, “And I’m sorry I got upset with you, that’s the last thing you need right now.”
“You were just doing what I asked… I’m sorry too. I know you’re just worried about me, but Nej, this is my job,” you looked at him sympathetically as you brushed a piece of his brunette hair behind his ear and he caught your hand on his cheek. “Risks are just a part of our lives.”
“You’re right,” he sighed, leaning into your touch, “and you’re an amazing kunoichi, I trust you with my own life — I just can’t bear the thought of you losing yours... I need you (y/n).”
He’d said I love you many times, and proven it many times more, but hearing that admission from the independent man felt like something just as important, if not more. Your eyes welled with tears and Neji’s lavender orbs went wide with worry.
“What’s wrong? Are you hurt? I’ll call one of the medics,” he rose from his seat but you grabbed his hand, pulling him back towards the bed.
“No, I’m fine. I’m more than fine,” you giggled, “Just c’mere.” You shifted over on the mattress and patted the space beside you for him to sit. He grimaced slightly, eyes flicking over the bandages that still covered your stomach.
“I shouldn’t,” he cautioned, “you’re still healing my love.”
“Please?” you gave him your best puppy dog eyes and stuck out your bottom lip, “I feel better when you hold me.”
He shook his head at you, his lips tight as he pretended to disapprove. “I don’t think Lady Tsunade would approve of your medical methods,” he observed, but climbed in beside you all the same, ever so cautiously as to not disturb your freshly wrapped injury.
You snuggled up next to him and he slid his arm around your shoulders so you could lay your head on his chest, listening to the steady sound of his heart within. You guided his hand to your chest so he could feel your own and shushed him, “well I think it’s working just fine. I feel better already.”
A quiet laugh bubbled over his lips and his chest shook a little as he chuckled at your adorable assertion. It was mostly a joke, but funnily enough his presence actually did act like a placebo, dulling your discomfort to something much more manageable. His fingers found their way to weave themselves through your hair, tickling lightly, and you let out a relaxed sigh. It wasn’t long until you dozed off in the small bed beside him, the last thing on your mind just how warm and safe you felt in his embrace and his words echoing in your ears, “I love you (y/n).”
You mumbled it back reflexively, the words an instinct and he smiled, letting each one linger in his mind before letting his own eyes flutter closed and synchronizing his breathing with yours. His teammates waiting in the hall forgotten, he followed you into a peaceful afternoon slumber filled with half realized pictures of your face.
A half hour later, Tenten had lost the battle of keeping Lee patient and the two of them poked their heads through the door curiously. A relieved smile creeped across the girl with the bun’s round face as she noticed the two of you cuddled up in the small hospital bed, seemingly undeterred by the lack of room. Maybe Neji would be okay, she thought, feeling proud that her stern comrade was opening himself up to the love that she had so long known he deserved. She turned to her wide eyed friend, who at the sight of you lying peacefully at rest had finally stopped his weeping, and nodded back towards the hallway.
“C’mon,” she whispered, “let’s let them sleep. We’ll talk to her tomorrow.”
Lee followed her hesitantly back outside, taking one last glance back at you and Neji and smiling at the charming view, leaving the two of you to spend the night wrapped in one another’s arms, feeling better than anyone with a stab wound had any right to. Just warm, and held, and perfectly safe.
