#I'm going to get really salty in the tags about a fic I just finished #I'm going to try to keep it as vague as possible because I don't want people finding it or whatever #but man did it frustrate me and my bestie is currently MIA so a tag rant will have to do #this fic just about the worst female protagonist I've ever had the misfortune of reading (hyperbolic) #maybe it's just because I'm not a super forgiving person and I don't continue to give people chances after they keep fucking up #but man this protag was something else #she meets this guy who won't stop making passes at her when he knows she has a bf and she's blatantly not interested #and then she sees this guy THREATEN A CHILD and BEAT HER BF so badly that his skull was fractured #and then she BEFRIENDS HIM??? KIND OF??? #that's already pushing it for me #but then guy KEEPS flirting and she ignores it #and even mildly leans into it at times #guy kisses her without her consent #she tells him off #he keeps making passes at her #she dances with him at a party #he AGAIN tries to tell her she secretly has feelings for him #and then days later guy gets into a fight with her BF #and when she intervenes guy almost hits her as well #and now the characters are saying guy needs to apologize and protag is saying she wants an apology and??? #girl stop giving him chances #girl you need a restraining order #I don't care how rough someone's home life is. if they continue to disrespect your boundaries that's it. they're done #it would be perfectly fine if this was going in the direction of 'this guy is not going to stop and protag needs help' #but guy is very obviously being portrayed as sympathetic with a side of 'she's good for him' #like yeah that's great I guess but he's clearly not good for her??? #and while he might like her he very obviously doesn't respect her??? #just. ugh. UGH #alisha babbles
