SPOILERS FOR STRANGER THINGS

Steve isn’t going to die, guys. There’s no evidence of it in this audio, at least. How many times have these characters screamed at each other when they’re in danger? I mean, think about it. We have the kids screaming at Steve when he’s fighting the demodogs. Again with Steve v Billy. Steve and the kids in the tunnels. Steve and the scoops troop in the elevators. Robin, when Steve’s dragged back to the room unconscious after being beaten by the Russians. Steve when he was injected by the doctor. Robin, Nancy, and Eddie yelling when Steve got pulled into the lake. There are more but I’m tired of writing them out, and the point is that ALL of these scenes would sound scary if you just had a snippet of them. Yes, Steve’s involved in a disproportionate number of these types of scenes, but that just proves my point!

Here’s the link, and besides the above, I also really don’t think Steve is the one screaming in either recording.

The only voice I hear in the first one is Dustin, and according to the dialogue, he and Steve aren’t quite the same location. He’s either yelling at Steve through a walkie, or possibly through a microphone, since they’re in a radio station. Dustin must be seeing Steve through a security camera, or he’s spotted danger heading to where he knows Steve is. I hear this:

Dustin: “Steve, do you hear me? You need to run!”

Dustin: “RUN!”

Recording two is more difficult to make out and I’d welcome some thoughts on it. What I think I hear is:

Director: “Grab him by the throat.”

???: “Steve (then something else inaudible)”

Dustin: “RUN!”

Now I suppose that it could be Sullivan/Vecna/some other villain’s voice saying “Steve” and said villain has just grabbed Steve by the throat. But then why would Dustin scream “RUN!” a second time, if Steve’s already been caught?

Options:

- Dustin’s the one grabbed by the throat. He’s still able to scream though, which seems weird.

- Steve’s the one who screams “RUN” the second time. Also weird. Why would they be screaming the same thing to each other?

Jesus. Can’t believe we have to wait until 2025 to find out.

#in recording one I think that might be steve screaming. not dustin saying 'run!'#and the second recording sounds like dustin yelling 'run' to me #steve could also be the one grabbing someone else by the throat #the run in the second recording also sounds louder/closer. so it could be that Dustin goes to wherever Steve is and tells him to run then #it's hard to tell #stranger things #st5 leaks

I saw a comment by someone on reddit who said they no longer comment on any fanfiction because of the risk of it being AI and ... that just seems like such a cop out to me, not to mention incredibly cruel to authors.

Please please please do not stop commenting on all fics or interacting with authors because you are worried about things being AI. The risk is slim, and the damage you do to authors by doing this is awful.

Writers put so much effort into their fics. For people to openly admit they still read and consume these fics, but choose not to comment on anything because of the possibility of someone using AI for their writing is incredibly selfish. You're punishing authors by doing this. You're not being moral or helpful or crusading for any useful cause - you're just hurting authors.

Ironically, by doing this, you're actually more likely to cause authors to stop writing (silence does this), and people who can't write will fill the gaps left by creating AI writing - so you're making the problem worse, not helping anyone.

If you want to support authors and writers, then SUPPORT them! Reblog work and send authors asks, leave comments and kudos, and above all don't punish people with silence.

#listen if the fic has any kind of personality it probably isn't AI #AI is either super bland or it leans heavy on the purple prose #you can tell when something was made by a person because it has a certain charm to it
