I didn't have a chance to make any tumblr posts for today over the weekend because I was too busy with academic stuff, and I also went out to brunch with my in-laws. Thankfully, my father-in-law cut his hair and is no longer combing it back into a pompadour that made him look like a mobster version of Sheev Palpatine.
According to him, the breaking point was the fact that he needed to use product to achieve the Mobster Palpatine look. He thought he could "train the hair" (his words) to somehow automatically style itself that way. Boomer men really out here thinking they can change the direction of their hair follicles by yelling at them.
Granted, when I was a child I was frustrated that I couldn't get my hair to stay in the side part look of the 19th century men who were my style icons. I thought maybe it was some kind of magic gender thing but it turns out that 19th century men were also using product, a lot of it.
