After a number of successful artificial #heart transplants (from 1973-1981) into various animals, Willem Johan #Kolff implanted the #Jarvik7 (invented by #UniversityofUtah student #RobertJarvik) artificial heart into #BarneyClark, a dentist suffering from #CongestiveHeartFailure in December, 1982. Clark lived for 112-days. #BillSchroeder became the second recipient of the Jarvik-7 and he lived for 620-days.
