reuben elian valencia was the only child born to valentina valencia. valentina had never believed in the supernatural, at least not in terms of vampires and werewolves and witches. with no belief in anything spiritual either and no particular moral values, valentina had no qualms about conning people out of their money as a pretend psychic. upon meeting a handsome man, she even went so as far as to hit on him by telling him his fate involved meeting a beautiful stranger under magical circumstances. he was entertained by her lies and they’d had a one night stand which ended in reuben being born. he also decided to feed on her without compelling her to forget. to be fair, he had asked permission to bite her...
for reuben’s early childhood, valentina declined quickly. no one believed the woman who lied for a living that she’d been attacked by some sort of demon and now also carried his child. she believed reuben to be some sort of punishment for her crimes against a mystical world she had ignored and mocked for years and kept him only as a form of penance. whenever he’d ask about his father, valentina would inform reuben his father was a devil who had cursed their family and he should never ever speak of him.
a middle school aged reuben took this figuratively for the most part, assuming his father had simply walked out on them and filled his mother with hatred. that is, until he started seeing visions of terrible events at age fifteen. he went to his mother, confiding in her that he had recurring nightmare-like thoughts of his high school girlfriend dying whenever they were at school. his mother decided this must be part of the curse, to give her son the gifts she never had in a twisted way like this, that reuben must be cursed to destroy everything he loved with advance knowledge. reuben still didn’t believe her until said girlfriend actually died exactly as he’d seen, a random attack on the street. eventually, he lost his own mother as well.
twenty and armed with nothing but an apparent curse and the name hector ozuna, that proved to be an occasional alias of his sperm donor, reuben eventually found his way to valdez, alaska. here, he found not the man he’d been hunting down, but a half-sibling named anny perez. after his years of research in high school and on the road after, he’d learned that he was some sort of vampire hybrid; a theory that turned out to be true when he snuck into a hospital to see if a blood bag had any sort of effect on him. with anny, he was determined to help her gain control as he learned himself.

still uses blood bags from local hospital instead of feeding on people.

emre demirci was born in ankara turkey to turkish parents omar and kiraz demirci, before his family moved to istanbul
after moving to instanbul they lived with an old classmate and friend of omar’s, things got complicated.
omar’s friend used to hurt both kiraz and emre, between hitting, burning, and cutting them. when omar found out what his friend was doing to his wife and son, he got into a fight with his friend and the other male ended up killing omar in front of emre and his mother, then he turned around and killed kiraz.
going after emre, the young boy, at the age of 8 fought back against the man before killing him. even though it was self defense, emre still spent time in juvie for manslaughter since there was no way they could prove that it was self defense so he did time.
with the memory of the deaths of his parents and the guy he killed, emre grew up to be anti social, having night terrors of the event.
the death of his parents also triggered his hellhound gene, and since he was a child when it triggered, emre had no idea which parent he inherited it from.
after getting out of juvie at the age of 14 he ended up going into foster care.
when he was 18 he met talia, who was 15 at the time, and her younger sister. he was jealous of her having a sister but recognized the signs of abuse and when she turned 18 the duo got married.
when he was 27, emre had been in the wrong place at the wrong time, finding someone covered in blood and tried to help him - performing chest compressions to try to get his heart beating again - and was arrested for first degree murder.
while he was in prison, talia divorced him and he spent the next five years locked up in prison. after five years in prison, he was released due to evidence proving he was innocent and just trying to help the person who was killed.
when released from prison he moved to valdez alaska for a fresh start. but due to his record he wasn’t able to get a decent job so he ended up picking up odd jobs as a handyman or carpenter around the town helping fix things up for people.

TIDBITS
malachai was created in heaven, not born, appearing at the same time as all of his other siblings. he was made an archangel, and genetic twin to the archangel michael. he did what he was designed to do, until about 1000 years ago when he had seen a beautiful human, seen her from Heaven and often went down to visit her, falling in love with the mortal. while he was twins with michael, malachai was close with his brother lucifer.
the angel went to go visit her once again, his siblings stopped him. he wasn’t supposed to interact with humans, it was the rules, he wasn’t even supposed to leave heaven. so he’d been banished from his home. having his wings ripped out from behind him as he was expelled from heaven.
when he woke up, he’d been laying in a bed, found by an old couple, who when asked him about himself, he didn’t have any answers. not that they could know. they told him he’d been found in the snow, naked and surrounded by bloody snow with stray feathers surrounding him. they’d collected the feathers for him, thinking they were of importance to him, which they were right. they were what was left of his wings.
they treated his wounds, wrapping bandages around his torso to keep the wounds from bleeding out - which later healed faster than what would have for a human. he left their home, taking on the name kai young, the last name being the old couples, and he never found her again, the girl he’d fallen for.
he later learned that his “sibling” lucifer led a revolt in heaven, against their father’s rules and against the order of things, getting himself and others of their siblings expelled from heaven, much like kai had been years before.
almost 500 years later, kai meets ezel somsi, and started spending more time with her, not having to return home anymore. but things started to change when he learned what exactly happened to an angel when they fell. they lost their powers, their purpose, so when he learned that ezel had been attacked and tried to save her by healing her, he couldn’t. instead he used his new abilities to manipulate the vampire who’d attacked her to turn her. he wasn’t going to spend eternity on Earth without her.
but ezel didn’t know he was the one who made the vampire turn her, or that he himself wasn’t human. so when she turned, she took off, angry that she was stuck like this, hating what he had done to her. and he left, realizing that what he did to be with the woman he loved, to save her, was her undoing.

eddie moreno, born edmundo, was born in jalapa guatemala to sofia moreno and an unknown father. his mother moved them to the states when eddie was a year old.
he grew up in california raised speaking spanish at home and learning english from classmates growing up.
eddie spent all of high school studying hard to make sure he got into a good college. to be the first in his family to go to college.
he graduated from high school at 16 and college at 20, med school at 24.
he went to ucla for pre med and med school before starting an internship at one of the local hospitals.
when he was 21 eddie had gotten his girlfriend at the time pregnant but she didn’t want to be a parent so she planned to give the baby up for adoption. once the baby was born, eddie refused to sign his rights away and became the sole guardian of his daughter, balancing med school and his internship with the help of his mother.
at 25, after his first year as an intern, eddie was deployed with the us army. his mom became his daughter’s guardian. she was the girl’s guardian for ten years before eddie came back stateside. but he moved him and his daughter to valdez alaska, after getting a job offer at Valdez Memorial.
his vampire half had been dormant his entire life, aside from being drawn to blood, until last month when he was treating a patient in the er and blood sprayed into his mouth. he started craving blood more.

JASPER ELLIOT SINCLAIR was born in valdez, alaska to an upper class pair of werewolves, one of three children. the first image that may come to mind is a lively, bustling household, but jasper’s childhood was far from it. the children were not products of love to the scheming duo, but more bargaining chips into securing a legacy. would they grow up to become the second-in-command of the tyler pack, to marry into the alpha’s family, perhaps to ascend to alpha themselves? with three children, they could mold them like clay into whatever future they desired for them.
this is the story of jasper sinclair, a boy who learned the only way to gain control of his own life was to throw it away like all his potential, the guise of insouciance one that melded to his devil-may-care grins alarmingly well.
born the middle child, jasper managed to avoid the absolute brunt of his parent’s scheming ways. one sibling was the golden child, projected to be one of the youngest pack members to be promoted to beta, thanks to their intellect and dedication to honing their abilities, the throne in their sights. the younger sibling was charm incarnate, wrapping everyone around their little finger, destined to enamor their way into the alpha’s family. where did that leave jasper, too easily caught up in daydreams to excel in his classes and one of the only ones in his class yet to show any manifestation of his shifting even at age 16? was he somehow human by a cosmic mistake?
at sixteen, irresponsibility and mischief incarnate, jasper knew a thing or two about flirting with girls, but one in particular had caught his eye. he’d managed to date her for several months, and a young jasper, certain christa was ‘the one’, never shied away from inviting her along with his best friends. his parents tried to discourage the relationship, but that only made jasper more persistent. he’d been banned from a spring break trip due to it being too close to the full moon, but refusing to miss out on adventure, jasper snuck out to drive to friend’s family beach house on the peninsula. why should a full moon that didn’t affect him stop his shenanigans? except... this time, it did. his werewolf gene finally triggered that spring, and jasper was left alone to deal with the shift. hearing him howling out in pain, christa came to find him, and narrowly escaped the large, hungry wolf in his place.
when he awoke, confusion gave way to horror as jasper realized he was not powerless after all, but that he’d nearly killed his own girlfriend. despite having already discussed spending their lives together like many teenagers certain of the future, christa’s feelings for him took a hard reverse. she refused to forgive him for not telling her, as if she could have been prepared. she swore if he ever came near him again, she’d call the police. the sinclairs were furious but solved the solution by paying christa and her family enough money to disappear and never mention what they’d seen again. it took a couple years, but jasper eventually moved on, dating and eventually proposing the alpha’s only daughter and being promoted to beta. it was exactly the life his parents wanted for him, but he found he actually liked her.
unfortunately, the sinclair family’s ambition could not be sated. happy with the family’s apparent alliance, the alpha promoted torrance sinclair to second-in-command. soon after his rise in position, the leader of the tyler pack and his eldest child were killed in an attack by another werewolf. the wolf was never identified, but torrance blamed the lunar pack for their leader’s death. jasper’s fianceé accusing him of only making her fall for him so that his family could betray hers. he was unsure what to believe, but she left him no choice by ending things first. torrance convinced the back a young wolf was in no position to lead, that she only blamed him because of her secret loyalties to the lunar pack. it was utter nonsense, and yet torrance was charismatic enough to have the pack eating out of his palm. his now ex-fianceé had lost her family and pack in one week, and her last words to jasper were that he never deserved to be loved by anyone.
the sinclair pack hierarchy shifted quickly, the eldest sinclair sibling named heir to the pack, a loyal family made second-in-command. after following his parents’ every wish, jasper found himself less happy than ever. what good was prestige in a pack he didn’t particularly even care for? was power all that anyone in this damned town wanted?
in the nearly 15 years since, jasper has given up on going after anything he’d once wanted. he works at his family’s investment company during the day to ‘pay the bills’, as if his father doesn’t finance most of his opulent life.
at night, he street races. one of the main things to bring him joy in life is a fast car. he chases almost anything that brings him adrenaline: a never-ending line of women to ghost, drunk shenanigans with his fellow rich friends, action movies, grand adventures, etc.
to spite his parents as much as he had the freedom to, jasper and his frenemy of sorts roxanne drunkenly eloped in vegas six months ago. they’d planned to annul the wedding the moment they returned home, but jasper’s father found out first. he was so angry at jasper’s recklessness (and the teeny tiny fact that roxanne was from the lunar pack, the one the sinclair pack believes killed their former leader) that he demoted him to a delta position. for once, jasper felt such a rush of adrenaline, so entertained that he proclaimed his love for roxanne and refused to divorce her. thankfully, out of spite for her own family, she’s agreed. he has no plans to ever commit to anyone again, so he’s not particularly in a hurry to give up the charade.
