Random magic/witchcraft hcs:

A lot of the day to day magic she uses is pretty much just intention-based real life witchcraft and superstition. Like bells on her door handle, blowing cinnamon in her apartment the first of the month, stuff like that.

She can’t see through glamour spells, but knows when they’re there. A person/object cloaked in glamour will look a little fuzzy around the edges to her.

Doesn’t use white sage to cleanse her space, instead burns a smudge made from a rosemary bush she grows. Occasionally uses pine.

Likes to sound cleanse with a brass gong when upset with Mixcoatl because the sound bothers him.

Because she has such a love for spirits and demons, Dama has to be very specific when cleansing her home so she doesn’t accidentally kick out someone she wants to stay, but she has almost no tolerance for unintended spiritual guests.

If there’s one thing Damaris has actually mastered, it’s summoning/banishing/sealing, which were among the first things her father taught her, aside from protecting herself against unconsensual possession and mind control.

Damaris uses a lot of glyphs and sigils in her practice, especially with said summoning/banishing/sealing, but with other spells as well. Aside from ingesting it, her glyphs/sigils are most powerful when drawn with blood, preferably someone else's. She can use her own in a pinch, but it's usually exhausting and not as effective. Though it's better then just drawing something in the dirt. But as a whole, the more time she has to prepare something, the better.
