genuinely i want to know how other people think of the 1890s bc to me it is. insanely close to today. “oh that was more than a hundred years ago” right but you could send a text message from one side of the world to the other basically instantly. people don’t have cars but everybody right and left is writing metaphors about how the human body is a system of electric wires conveying information (a theme you will recognize from 1980s manga and also from now). photographs are everywhere. the periodical press (magazines and newspapers) functions extremely similarly to the late 1990s/early 2000s internet.........
