Whyyyy did Flanagan get Evanlyn to do such an objectively stupid thing. Obviously it's so we could have her be stowed away on the boat when it left the harbour. But god I do hate it when authors make their characters do stupid shit to force the plot </3 it would maybe work if Evanlyn was a proven dumbass but shes not! Shes just less experienced than the other characters

But boy it was really like 'I need to follow this guy and I CANNOT have him find me. Dont worry about why I'm doing that -> He might be going to his ship after his tavern stop. I have no reason to believe this -> I will sneak into the hold in preparation because being in an enclosed area will allow me to follow him (??)'
