Another fascinating line the Painter says, which I heard dying from the ghost early on for the first time.

This is interesting because unlike in the original where you wake up in a colorless version of the room you died in, here you wake up in the same room each time you die - though the appearance of the room changes a bit based on the chapter you're in.

Not sure why this line stood out to me so much - maybe because the storm going on while you're wandering around the house was just something we accepted and didn't think twice about.

Now in calling attention to it through this line (as well as the Musician saying "will this storm ever run out of rain?") I'm wondering if there's something more to it, like if it's supernatural in nature.

Because making a contract with the Rat Queen reminded me so much of Madoka Magica, I emulated a snippet of Sayaka's pre-transformation despair for the Musician.

For a proper Layers/Madoka crossover I think the Musician might be better suited for Madoka herself (with the Painter as Homura) but I think she encapsulates Sayaka's fate perfectly: no matter what timeline, she will always succumb to despair (and become a witch).
