Kent Rogowski: Love = Love, 2006-2008

Love=Love is a series of collages that were created using pieces of over 60 store bought puzzles. Although puzzle pieces are unique, and can only fit into one place within a puzzle, they are sometimes interchangeable within a brand. These puzzles were cut using the same die, but depict unrelated images. Using only the flowers and skies from each of the puzzles, I created a series of entirely new compositions by recombining the puzzle pieces. These spectacular, fantastical and surreal landscapes sit in direct contrast to the banal and bucolic images of the original puzzles. (artist statement)

A pofon, az kemény dolog. Az olyan, hogy sejted, hogy megkapod, mintha jeges szél borzongatna végig a gerinced mentén, és érzed, hogy elkerülhetetlen, de az utolsó pillanatig nem akarod elhinni, hogy most tényleg, igazán meg fognak ütni. Behúzod a nyakad, felemelnéd a kezed, minden olyan lassan történik, és közben meg mégis olyan gyorsan, hogy fel se fogod, és szeretnél erős lenni, mert tudod, hogy csak az kéne, hogy összefogd a két kezét a csuklójánál, ahogyan most ő fogja a tiéd, megpróbálod kihúzni magad a szorításból, de te is tudod, hogy felesleges, mert sokkal gyengébb vagy nála. Mindig ugyanekkor, ugyanígy átfut az agyadon, hogy egyszerűbb lenne csendben hagyni magad, és nem rángatni a kezed, nem kapálózni, nem kiáltani, de sose megy, mert az ösztönök erősebbek az elhatározásnál. Aztán megkapod. Csattan, csöng, ég. Nem is fogod fel, hogy megtörtént, már kapod a következőt. És ennyi, vége. Szívod a fogad, szorítod az állkapcsod, ráncolod a homlokod, nézed a földet. Sírni – azt nem, az gyengeség. Pedig fáj, rettenetesen fáj, de nem az arcod meg a füled, ami vörös és dagadt, az nem fáj tovább fél percnél. A félelem fáj, a csalódás meg a megaláztatás.
