The first Prize Fight song I ever listened to was a demo of “This Apartment” on PureVolume and I was instantly hooked. It’s hard to believe that was 12 years ago this summer. Times change, but the feeling this song and band give me has not. Enjoy!

Here’s the first installment of The Promise Hero’s track-by-track explanation for their upcoming album, Demonstration Tapes, out March 3rd! Song: “Maybe I’m Just Crazy” Album: Demonstration Tapes In 2013, I wanted to work with a manager more than anything. When I finally found one, we would talk on the phone every day for hours. Our conversations consisted of non-stop brain storming, philosophy and band gossip. Occasionally, he spoke about feeling frustrated when other bands he managed rejected his ideas. Sometimes, it seemed like it would cause an end to their relationship. I felt lucky that I loved all of his ideas and hoped he never felt frustrated with me. But one week, he disappeared. And I felt stranded. We had just spent months working on ideas and now it seemed to have all been for nothing. One of those evenings, I remember eating at a horrible Chinese buffet and on the way out, an idea for a melody popped into my head. I started thinking of lyrics and music and knew it was a reflection of how my manager made me feel. I went home and recorded a quick acoustic version. Eventually, my manager reappeared and apologized, explaining he needed time to clear his head. After we proceeded to work together, I showed him the song I had come up with. He shot it down before it had finished playing. A year or so went by working together and we started speaking less until we mutually seized operations. With the new beginning, I started to re-demo everything in GarageBand and discovered the ability to create synthetic drums. I constructed full-band versions of all my ideas without actually having a real drummer. I unburied the song I wrote in the Chinese Buffet parking lot and gave it new life. The new demo instantly became a favorite to anyone who gave it a listen. Another year later, I met up with Will Pugh in Nashville and presented him with 40 completed demos. Among those was the GarageBand version of the buffet parking lot song about my manager, which he favored most and went on to re-record together.

My heart goes out to the victims of the Orlando tragedy that took place over the weekend and their family members. America is better than this. The world is better than this. We are all better than this. Taking no action to prevent terrible acts like this cannot be tolerated anymore. People are people and love is love. 100% of profits from our Love Is Love t-shirt will be donated to the Pulse Victims Fund by Equality Florida, the state's lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization. This pre-order will be available until Tuesday, July 5, 2016 and is expected to ship in late July.
