Making a girl say "potty" instead of "toilet" is a lot of fun, as is requiring her to ask permission to use it, but what I love even more than making a girl ask if she can use the potty is making her ask if she can use her potty, as if instead of the regular toilet there's an adorable little training potty waiting for her in the bathroom. Perhaps there should be.

Of course, it doesn't have to be limited to the bathroom if that's the case. You can make her tug on your shirt and say, "Daddy, I need my potty!" and have her wait where she is doing the potty dance while you go and fetch it for her. Then you can put it at her feet, take down her pull-ups (checking first to make sure she hasn't already had an accident), and lower her bottom onto the seat. That way she can learn to go pee-pee whether she's in the living room, the kitchen, the bedroom, or anywhere else in the house.

If your end goal is to get her back in diapers permanently, this is a good way of getting her used to the idea that going potty is something that can happen anywhere, not just in the bathroom. It's an excellent means of breaking down her privacy too - every potty trip will feel like a public affair, and blushes and shyness will be guaranteed in even the most outgoing of girls. This also has the advantage of making accidents more likely, as she may be so embarrassed about using her potty in front of you that she waits too long and ends up peeing her pants.

But even if you're not planning to put her back in diapers, she'll look absolutely adorable perched on the tiny thing, and the absurdity of a grown woman using a training potty like a toddler will keep her humble and well-behaved. It'll be hard for her to develop an attitude when she feels less mature than the average three-year-old!
