It’s interesting to reflect on how the Apple Jacks commercials are groping towards an acceptance of the idea that it is not our place, nor was it God’s, to criticize Adam and Eve for their decision.

One must instead just roll one’s eyes and laugh.

It’s a very bold theological stance because they’re explicitly not going with the more traditional “ah, it was the plan all along” or “to eat the apple was to grow up” counternarratives.

Instead, they’re all in on the “f*** off, Adam and Eve just liked apples, OK? Get out of here if you don’t like it.”

Why? If you don’t get it, I can’t explain it to you.

There’s been remarkably little backlash.
