rereading es21 cause of brainxbrave lately and thinking about nagas (shut up) and especially about how agon is in hiruma's own words, 'simple, but not stupid'. i'd argue that the twins are teenaged boys and are in fact stupid, but the 'simple' part is more important to me rn

because what unsui says is 'the way i'll feel rewarded is if you mercilessly destroy everyone' and then agon was like BET and then he spent middle school and high school doing exactly that.

i think agon is aware on some level that unsui's complex stems largely from their proximity, cause there are plenty of successful players in es21 who aren't physically gifted but whose tenacity and passion are enough to overcome those physical limitations, but none of them have spent quite literally every minute of their lives being compared to someone better.

that's not agon's fault, that's on the parents, teachers and peers who keep saying 'wow, they're twins but agon is so much better!'

that's honestly where agon's simplicity comes into play and is even a little endearing, cause he's told one thing by his big brother and he will just commit to it, and neither of them know how to meet each other halfway. what the adults should've done was sent these twins to therapy
