something else I wanted to point out in my post abt misogyny behind the scenes on the dsmp is how, when Niki first came forward very shortly after the dsmp ended to say there was a lot of misogyny from major male ccs behind the scenes, dt fans quickly accepted this as true because she didn't mention any names so it was easy to point fingers at wilbur or other men on the server and pretend her allegation didn't also very much implicate the dt, now that Connor, Sophie, Andi, and others have backed up Niki's claims of misogyny and confirmed that the dt were very much perpetrators of it as well they've suddenly stopped believing her

like idk I feel like nobody has mentioned Niki being basically the first to come out about the misogyny behind the scenes at all and how much of what she said lines up with what Connor said at the beginning of his stream, I just feel like it highlights the hypocrisy and contradictions from dt fans trying to justify why their faves couldn't possibly be perpetrators of misogyny

I will have to add that I have not watched the video myself yet and all I know is from the liveblog in the DMs but let's not forget that Dream not only was engaged in fostering a very parasocial fanbase from the beginning, but also he has been exposed multiple times for racist behavior which I feel must be highlighted to show how dismissive he is when responding to criticism that's honest to god needed.

If you need an example, this is his response from 2020 from when he made a war cry that he said was meant to be a spongebob refference but sounded more like one of those racist depiction of Native Americans:

I still can't get over Dream complaining to Tommy's mom about Tommy, I just can't. According to Sarah Simons he apologized in dms, which is honestly more than what I would expect from him. But I'm not gonna hand him too much credit, he didn't apologize until after he was called out for it, and him doing the right thing once doesn't erase everything else he has done. Like, you expect me to give credit to the man who helped his friend cover up sexual assault and then when said sexual assault was revealed defended sexual assault and then spout out dangerous shit about consent? HELL NO! That man doesn't deserve to have any credit given to his name, not in the slightest.

I just find it interesting that a multiple women on the dsmp have come forward about facing misogyny behind the scenes and talked very frequently about being ignored or not being supported by the male content creators on the server but it wasn’t until Connor backed up their allegations of misogyny that dream started freaking out about it and dream fans decided that this misogyny didn’t actually happen

What do you mean they threatened legal action and are prancing around ruining Q's reputation without ever contacting him first??? Saying he "should already know" to contact them because of a twitter callout when he. Isn't using twitter at the moment. And then adding like "you can see the link" which is also on twitter.com, the platform they are aware he isn't using. As they refuse to contact him through email like a union SHOULD?? To like NEGOTIATE?????

They also talk about him as if he was some rich nepotism baby billionaire CEO. That's some mexican youtuber and streamer who came up with a studio to support his MINECRAFT SMP

Like yeah, he has money and he is in charge of a large project and group of people, but a lot of the problems are because he's never been in this position before. For like the past week and a half I've been seeing a quite a bit of content on here, but particularly on TikTok, of people being like 'oh you should've known Wilbur was a bad guy from his music and the characters he made' and like??? Stop doing that?? Do you know how close to victim blaming you are getting??

This man flaunted himself as a woman supporting feminist, a conscientious friend, and has stated before that his songs were made to be satire. (Which I don't believe now.) Saying someone should've known he was an abuser because of his music or one popular character out of the many he's made, which he didn't even write by himself, is WILD. Even some of his real life friends didn't know, what makes you think a random fan would?

Tone down the holier-than-thou attitude and focus on the literal victims that are still coming forward instead, thanks.

What really sucks about the dsmp content, particularly how fandom reliant the actual content was for both animatics and vods and recaps and art and things, is moments like right now. Fans and artists are obviously very upset about finding out many of the creators were shit people.

So they delete or unlist all the content they made for it(which they have the right to do).

In any other media, when you find out someone involved with it was awful or something else problematic about it, the media itself still exists and begins to exist outside the behavior of those involved in it. You can still go back and consume the media as a whole and relive either that time period or story without having to think about the people involved with it. I can watch Glee without thinking about how many bad people were in the cast. I can watch a movie without worrying about how the director or producer was outed for being scum.

But the DSMP? It's just gone. It becomes lost media. The vods slowly disappear. The animations that inspired things in the canon (and fanon) become unlisted.The fan arts that gave silly scenes emotional resonance disappear. It becomes nearly impossible to piece together everything that was part of the story experience.

It just makes me sad. Like, I still enjoyed the story. I still enjoyed the characters. But losing so many of the things the fandom created makes it clear you'll never be able to relive it again.

I know he already deleted his tweet, but I do feel the need to touch base on a few things:

Firstly, I didn’t give Luke permission to post what he did. I don’t believe it was necessary to identify Dream in this conversation, because that is private drama but since Luke has so graciously name-dropped him, I can confirm that we were involved at one point and that when I confided in him about that night, he told me to keep quiet about it. I don’t want to go into the details that Luke shared because he has no idea what happened between Dream and I. Also, I don’t believe they are public concerns so I will leave it at that.

Please do not let his pitiful attempt at deflection distract you from the fact that he admitted to having sex with me when I was blackout drunk. He might have skillfully downplayed it and apologized for “any damage [he] may have caused”, but he still admitted it. He also vividly described intimate details about me without my consent, which felt extremely violating.

This includes:

How I “initiated” sex while I was blacked out, an experience I have no recollection of and no way of verifying, while at the same time implying that we were both in the same state of consciousness.

Implying that I regularly sleep with little clothes on in order to frame my confusion the following morning as trivial. 

Details about exchanging private photos with a third party before I even met him.

Speculations and details about Dream and I that he has no way of knowing. Any non-platonic involvement happened either when we were on a break or after our relationship ended.

Again, he shared all of this information WITHOUT my consent. He didn’t attempt to contact me to ask if it was okay to share this or even inform me he was doing it.

Consent and boundaries are concepts he and the people he chose to surround himself with seem to struggle with. I really hope this is the last time I have to talk about him publicly but with his constant yapping I fear I do not know. Don’t let this distract you from Caiti, Lexie, Shelby, and all other victims that have spoken out against these cretins.
