Being a young adult is so strange. You enter a coffee shop. The 20 year old girl waiting behind you cried all night because she just came to a new city for university and she feels so alone. That 27 year old guy over there works a job he is overqualified for, he lives with his parents and wants to move out but doesn't know what to do about it. That one 24 year old dude already has a car, a house, and a job waiting for him once he graduates thanks to his dad's connections. The 26 year old barista couldn't complete his higher education because he has to work and take care of his family. The 28 year old girl sitting next to you has no friends to go out with so she is texting her mother. That couple (both 25 years old) are married and the girl is pregnant. The 29 year old writing something on her laptop has realized that she chose the wrong major so she is trying to start all over. We are not alone in this, but we are actually so alone. Do you feel me

I told a stranger this little bit of advice earlier today and I think more people need to hear it: People not interacting with your work is a morally neutral thing, especially when you're just starting out.

Not getting the interaction you're wanting doesn't mean your work is inherently bad. Doesn't mean your stories are not worth the time to be heard. Doesn't mean you're incapable of growth.

Being a part of the comics community is less about trying to fit in and finding complete validation from others and more about building a space all your own and inviting others to join you. People will come and go but you're the one whose opinion and attention matters most. That space is gonna grow and change as you go through that but the thing is you've gotta put in the work to make it exist, and we all start somewhere.

Be kind to the present you, look forward to the future you, and be proud of what those two yous can make together.

randomly remembering the time in 2012 when everyone kept saying the world was going to end at midday that day and like, i didnt really believe it, but i didnt want to be a complete fool if i was wrong, so i excused myself from class to go sit the field and perfectly timed the beat drop to a skrillex song just in case something happened. and im just. retroactively amused by the idea of ushering in the appocalypse with skrillex. most 2012 thing you could possibly do.

I think it's a shame that Tau is such a lesser known and seen movie since it's only on Netflix and not everyone has it or want it....

The story has so much potential and I wouldn't mind watching a sequel to it where Tau can get a body of his own and then just gets through the day with Julia, getting to explore the world. ❤️

That would be my personal wish because Tau is one of my most beloved characters because he is such a precious bean, I simply adore him 😊

I like the found family dynamic of these two because they support each other totally. Both were basically abused or neglected by their "creators/parents".

And the other thing... Fuck Alex. Just that.

Yet more TAU stuff!

Exploring the writing history led me to here where a .pdf of the original script by Noga Landau from 2014 can be downloaded via Dropbox. 

There’s some interesting ideas and alternative lines/scenarios to be had when it comes to TAU and Julia. Notably, TAU had an a small legion of different looking & functioning droids he used to maintain the house; which might explain the original design variations here.

Having said that, the script feels like a VERY rough outline. The characters are more simplistic and lack the intrigue/nuance of their on-screen counterparts. TAU’s self-image & desire to create music are less explored, Julia is in more of a position of consistent vulnerability etc. The plot’s kinda wonky too; there’s more in the way of grizzly, sleazy horror, and it’s also unclear WHY Alex is even abducting people in the first place.

There’s one last point which I wanna make here for readers before looking up the script which I’ll throw under a cut; be forewarned of potentially disturbing & distressing written content below.
