On this day, two years ago, Ask Undead Blue Lesbians posted that we were officially taking questions! Thank you so much for sticking with us all this time!

Unfortunately, I do have some news. No, the blog isn’t ending (not with a cliffhanger like that!) but until I am able to find steady work, and because Haven deserves to be compensated for their work here, the summer hiatus will have to be extended. I don’t know, maybe indefinitely. There’s still Patreon and the GoFundMe, but it’s only been enough to pay off that surprise bill. What’s remaining isn’t even enough to pay Haven for the month. In addition, I am going to be moving this month, so I’m going to mostly be focusing on the move.

I do still wish for this blog to continue in some fashion, though. I am working on several stories related to the blog. However, writer’s block has made me neglect them. I have two vignettes, meant to take place between phases two and three, a prequel to How You Lived, two midquels taking place between How You Lived and the start of the blog, and a possible sequel based off of Monster Road Trip.

Regardless… thank you for these past two years. I wish I can promise more content, but who knows?

Danse’s Real Name?

As I’ve said before; Danse’s first name is never stated in the game. There’s a lot of speculation and some rumors, so I thought I’d clear things up. I did a lot of searching- not only for the name, but for the evidence behind it. I didn’t get a solid answer, however, I appreciate your contributions, including the practical first names as well as your deeply intellectual concepts: 

M7-97 Danse (His synthetic designation)

Paladin Danse (Not as his title, but as his literal first name)

Richard/Dick Danse (seriously why do so many of you think this)

Safety Danse

River Danse

Just Danse III

Hubert Danse

Lance Danse (do you think his mom hated him?)

But, we’re looking for a concrete answer. Plenty of you have brought his most-assumed name to my attention, so I looked into it. As far as I can tell, the idea that his full name is ‘Saul Jonfield Danse’ isn’t just a rumor pulled out of nowhere, but was instead once noted on a fallout wiki page (that must have been taken down, because I was unable to find it.) Some say it was cut from the game, and that you can find it in Elder Maxson’s cut dialogue; a thorough search for this dialogue file came up empty, too.

Then again, some people make arguments that he simply doesn’t have a first name. One theory is that, as an orphaned wastelander, who would bother with a full name? Another idea this post delves into is that several memory-wiped synths only use one name.

But I need to know the truth. Even a behind-the-scenes explanation, like a developer giving an offhand, ‘oh yeah, we just didn’t name him.’ I can’t just accept that they left it open ended. I searched forums. Cut-content youtube videos. Fallout wiki pages. Tumblr posts. Everything I could think of, and yet, nothing. It’s almost as if everything was taken down. 

Anyway, tell me what you think, and do your best to sniff out a concrete answer (or even a hint for the trail I’m trying to follow.) I’d appreciate the help, scavvers.
