Here we go!

I decided to start a blog to mostly vent my frustrations over...well....America. I love my country so much - so I’m not mad at the USA itself. I’m mad at many...many...MANY people in it. Mostly leadership, but their supporters too. The ones that keep voting them into office.

I have never been political but the last decade has changed that. The last two years have sent sent me into overdrive. It’s because I love my country that I’m so angry right now about the direction it’s headed.

I am a former Republican, and do not recognize the party it has become. The events of the past 2 years have pushed me further to the left. I in no way claim that the Dems are pure as the driven snow or that they don’t have their own dirty secrets. Politicians will be politicians. But man, the blatant dirtiness & hypocrisy I’ve seen out of the R’s is just mind-boggling. I find myself agreeing with & supporting Dems in most situations. But I am still not a Democrat. I find a lot of what goes on isn’t about Republican or Democrat or Libertarian or whatever for me. It’s about this country & what it means to be an AMERICAN. It’s about basic decency. Humanity. The right way to treat others. And I’m sorry, the R’s just aren’t displaying that to me. But when all is said & done, I am all about “country over party”...which just so happens to be the District 9 Democratic candidate’s campaign slogan. Yes, the only district in the country right now with no representation because of election fraud...yep, that is MY district. Quite literally “taxation without representation”...but more on that in future posts too 😬

Writing has always been cathartic for me. I’ve been bottling up my true political feelings on Facebook, where I interact with the majority of my friends & family. Sure, I’ll passive-aggressively “like” or comment on a post, knowing such an action may show up in someone’s newsfeed. I rarely share a controversial post because unlike others, I care about offending those who may not agree. I doubt it’s a secret where I stand on many issues but I still reeeeeeeeeaaaaaallllly hold back on FB. Friends will post things or share articles that practically make my head explode. But I resist commenting & shove it down. I’ve “unfollowed” a lot of people so I can adopt the “ignorance is bliss” approach. Still friends, just don’t have to see the blood-boiling posts. Can’t get pissed at them if I don’t see it. But then I also don’t see other aspects of their lives I should know about. Yet, it’s a necessary evil.

So, here we go on yet another site that I’ll use as sort of a glorified diary. This is where I’ll vent. But hoping some people will visit me over here & engage in healthy debate. Operative word being HEALTHY.

If you’re a Republican &/or Trump Supporter & have read this far, I commend & thank you. 😁 I’m afraid future posts will not be nearly this calm & diplomatic. Let’s lay out my first “big” announcement: I HATE Trump. Still with me?

I will lay out in what will probably end up being a 300-point essay why I think he’s THE. WORST. This is not an effort to persuade you to hate him too if you don’t already. Again, I am venting about the living hell he has put 2/3rds of the country through for what feels like the past 17 years, even if it has only been 2.

I do genuinely want to understand why people still support DJT. At this point I JUST. DO. NOT. GET. IT. I kinda sorta maybe a little got it during the 2016 election (which I’ll elaborate on in future posts regarding my theories)...but now? I just need help understanding. I realize that entire paragraph sounds like a giant insult if you do support him. In all sincerity, I truly do want to see your side. And if you know me well, you know I mean that and that my heart is in the right place.

With that, house rules: I will be respectful towards you as long as you return the same respect. I will not be as respectful ABOUT DJT or token R’s in Congress. But none of that is meant to be a personal attack on YOU. If you call me or other commenters names (i.e. libtard seems to be popular) or act like a typical troll, I will block you from here & then unfriend you on other social media sites. Call it social media spring-cleaning. 😉. After 10 years on FB, most of the people that would pull that with me have already been kicked off the island so I don’t foresee any issues. Ha.

So that’s my long first blog setting the stage for probably longer blogs. 🤓. This will be an adventure! Even if it’s just me & my like-minded friends along for the ride. Hope that is not the case. The Blog de Kelly Mac is a welcoming place. 😊
