af resists raising their brows when sasha’s face falls. withdrawing the offered soda, they take a long sip to hide their surprise. as they swallow, they shrug, making an indifferent sound. “i mean…is it so bad to wear something i look good in?” throughout their levity, they keep their gaze level with sasha’s face. they’ve rarely seen her break eye contact mid-conversation. they resist the urge to ask if she’s alright. would she even be honest with them if they asked? their musing is broken when sasha says the words expensive and pay. they swallow hard. “no, no, jesse doesn’t have to, uh, do that. we can…we can work with my budget, right?”
