Scrap Metal Praying Mantis - Stainless Steel Sculpture
This sculpture is made from a collection of scrap stainless steel cutlery and used bicycle pieces. I wanted the piece to have a sleek, mirrored, mechanical look which would describe the creatures precise and efficient anatomy.
Mantids are masters of stealth and ambush prey by camouflaging themselves against the surrounding plant life.
Fleur got out and killed my Goliath stick insect nymph. Not 15 minutes later, she’s trying to kill the plastic butterfly on top of the late nymphs enclosure. This is why I can’t have nice things.
