When Jack resurfaced with the pearl he was where he had been with Lilo on their day trip to Hawaii. He didn't know for certain but he had a hunch, a mighty hunch that something good might be back there. Casting the bubble head charm he plunged through the surface of the warm pacific waters. Suddenly, there was a voice, ringing clear in his head, a voice he had heard before, the one who had him convinced he'd gone mad.

"Jack, Jack Jack..." she said disparagingly, "dropping out, this close to graduation? Can't say I didn't see that one coming."

Jack frowned, he wasn't the greatest fan of this voice but with the bubble head charm he didn't want to risk talking and well...bursting his bubble.

Anything he might have wanted to say though was blown completely from his mind as three watery, wispy ethereal looking doors materialized in front of him. "So, my name is Margo," said the voice again, "and I have something to tell you," Jack frowned. He didn't think he would like this.

She materialized in a wisp like form to his side, blond hair swirling around her in the water but never getting wet. "So the Jack you think you are, isn't the Jack you really are." she said, "I've been screwing with you and your Lilo and I've stolen you from your real world."

Jack wanted to curse, what the fuck did she mean his real world?

"Don't believe me?" she said, "see for yourself..." and all at once his brain was flooded. Just as he had in this life he had shot Barbossa and had sailed with Gibbs but there were other people as well...There was William Turner, Davy Jones and Angelica but these people were consequential. What he was not expecting to be struck by..was Elizabeth.

Elizabeth Swan...he had loved her once while she had that name but now she was Swan no more...he knew that. She was Elizabeth Turner, the pirate king and her husband was nothing more than a ghost...there was pain associated with it as well as hope.

"See those doors," she said again, "Those are your choices, the first one takes you home, with no memories of Hogwarts," she said passing by the first, "the second takes you back to your world with all of your memories....but there's no telling who you will be!" she said as she passed the one in the middle, "and then there's this door, which will keep you here, oh and you won't have any memory of this encounter. So..." she said as she drifted away into the blackness, "what will it be..."

Lilo...he thought as he drifted towards the last door, I will always choose Lilo...and with that his hand clutched the door knob, turning he drifted through it...

Jack shook his head...had he blacked out? He glanced around him and bellow him, his anxieties fading away immediately as he caught sight of exactly what he had hoped to see. He swam down towards the metallic glimmer and reached out to it. His hand gripped on a golden plate, emblazoned with little sapphires and he smiled. It looked like dropping out had been worthwhile after all....

The kiss had been an unexpected one, not in that she kissed him, in the way she kissed him. He was reluctant to let her go but he had to, "Keep a weather eye on the horizon..." he whispered back before stepping away. He summoned his broom, stepping off the ledge of the tower he landed easily on it and with that he sped away to his ship.

The leaving was difficult, the leaving felt as though he was leaving his whole life behind him. He had always said that not all treasure was silver and gold but now he knew this to be even truer than he could imagine, but also false. Treasure was not silver or gold...it was Lilo and he would treasure her always. 

He landed on the boards of his ship, casting a spell in the sky that read "good luck at the championships love" in sparkling letters before casting off. He never expected to graduate from school, he had never expected to have a desk job or be respected by many so for the most part this end was exactly as he imagined it from the very beginning.

Except there was Lilo...no matter what there would always be Lilo.

"I'll write to you love," he said as he stood up, not releasing her hands, "everyday, I'll write to you, I promise..." He looked out over the school grounds to his ship, the pearl, floating on the lakes calm mysterious waters. It was a mystery how life could surprise you, bring you a person who could utterly change who you were. It scared him and thrilled him all at once.

"I should go now..." he said with a tone of disappointment, "while the weather is calm I should go." Jack didn't want to go, he never wanted to leave her but the more he waited, the more he risked the treasure being found by someone else, "I'll be back to visit though...soon, I promise."

After her rain of kisses he gently took her hand and with nervous yet excited fingers tied the thin bit of fabric around her finger, "I promise, when I get the money I'll get you a real ring but for now..." he said as he finished off with a bow. "For now..." he continued, "I hope this will be enough.." His hopeful smile melted away as he realized he would have to address the other thing...

"Lilo," he began, "I know it isn't fair but...I think I'll be leaving school, tonight if I can." He released her hand with a sigh, "I promise I will write you everyday while we're apart but if we're going to do this we don't have any time to waste, I need money now and I think I know exactly where to get it and get it fairly...will you wait for me? I'll come back soon, I promise...."

Disappointment is a natural part of life and your mother should just fucking get used to it. I think the best possible move for you to make, as a strong human being and not at all for anyone's viewing pleasure, would be to openly confess your feelings for....what's his face.

He brushed stray tears away from her cheek, his hand lingering on her cheek for just a moment. He didn't understand much about space but he understood what she was saying perfectly. Lilo was the only being that really made sense to him any more and that was fine, it was all he needed...just one good person and the miracle of it was that she loved him too, loved him and meant it.

He tore a strip off his shirt, not really caring to think much of what he was doing. "I don't have any money that's rightfully mine yet...I can't buy you anything or provide for you yet but....will you marry me?" he asked taking her hand, "maybe not for a while...but one day before we both die, will you marry me?"

He was silent for a moment, staring into her eyes as what he said finally set in. He didn't expect to say that, it was what his heart wanted to say...for a long time actually but he didn't really think it over...then again, did he really have to? He fell in love with her not once but twice and he knew that they would fall in love again in their next lives. He just really hoped she said yes....

It was real...it was all real and he knew it the moment he felt her arms around him. He thought he loved money, the sea, the Caribbean...he didn't love any of those things, if he loved Lilo he couldn't have ever loved them, the didn't even compare. In a surge of relief tears began to fall from his as he wrapped his arms around her holding her tightly never wanting to let her go again.

It made him sick to know he had lost her and never even knew it. That would never happen again, he would be sure of it. "We met when you found goat..." he whispered breathlessly through the tears, "and we kissed for the first time at this spot...and I went away to go get my home back..." He screwed his eyes up shut, "I-I had no idea I'd be gone that long, I didn't want to worry you so I didn't write and I didn't say anything but-"

A lump formed in the back of his throat and he almost couldn't continue but he swallowed it back. "I love you...so fucking much..." he finally managed. "I'm so sorry....I didn't mean for this to happen to us."

Jack began to get drawn in my the sheer mass of her energy. His eyes were torn in utter frustration, being unable to decide what part of her he wanted to look at the most. Her eyes, her lips, the crook of her neck and then back to her lips and her eyes, as he drew closer his vision cycled through these places until finally the distance between them had been bridged completely and their lips met in what felt like the first time in far too long a time.

For a brief moment he was in a state of confused bliss...and then it hit him like a pillow case of bricks...it hit him. Everything...all at once, he wanted to gasp he wanted to breath but he couldn't quite figure out how that all worked. He supposed he could if he tried hard enough but he was having a hard time caring.

He remembered

He remembered her and her voices, he remembered that day she had found goat and the day they drank in the room of requirement. He remembered the auction and how beautiful she had looked then, he remembered the time they went for lunch and their very first kiss...atop of the astronomy tower...

But mostly, he remembered how as he was caught drowning in that god forsaken trunk of that car all he could bare to think of was her. he remembered as he thrashed against the hood of the car he prayed for a second chance, a second chance to see her. He remembered promising that he'd give it all up, everything he thought he was for another chance to see her smile...

Finally he remembered how to breath and he broke away with a gasp. His eyes finding her's once more, searching for the words, the right ones, the ones that made sense but he could find only one, "Lilo...." he breathed as he gazed at her, not daring to touch her, fearing that she may fade away, fearing it was too good to be true.....

What did he want to do? He knew meteor showers were a big deal but it paled in comparison to pretty much everything about her. He look the telescope gazing softly at her as he did. When he was young he had always been fond of the enchanted telescope on the pearl but something about this one just seemed a little more special than that. He glanced through it before sitting with her and watching the stars.

He chuckled at her question, "Of course you can love..." he said in earnest interest. "I've never wished on a star myself but...well I've been told it's always good to try new things..." he meant to glance away to break the eye contact but he found himself caught in her eyes like one might find their boot caught in the mud...

Thinking back on everything he had been through in the past months everything had in some way centred on Lilo. She had a gravitational pull on him that one did, so much so that he had decided to switch career paths just so he could stay in her orbit, bathed in the light of the many stars she carried within her. Sometimes he even thought he could see them...but maybe he was going as mad as they said he was. If it was madness he would surrender freely to it, he had never felt so happy.

He heard foot steps behind him, familiar footsteps and for a moment he was scared to turn around. The minute he did there would be no turning back, there would be no daring heists or dealings with pirates. There would be no more screwing around for the sake of it. There would be no more selfishness because when he looked at her face he knew he would have to surrender all of everything he used to be to her...

Who would he become? Would either of them even like this new reformed Jack? He had no clue but maybe he wouldn't change all that much...maybe he would be okay. He turned around a crooked grin on his face, "hello love," he said his eyes locking with her beautiful brown ones.
