✧ Sentence Starters ; The Grinch Who Stole Christmas - Novelization Edition
I didn’t think I had to go into all the disgusting details.
At least you’ll get the truth.
I’ll take those odds any day.
I’d rather chew on dead maggots.
Well, you and I know better, don’t we?
I can assure you that the last one to laugh in this neck of the woods is me.
Doesn’t this seem like a bit much?
And they call me crazy.
[Muse Name], I’m sorry I got you in trouble.
Oops. It was me.
No one finds me unless I want to be found.
Do I sense your disapproval?
All wrapped up with no place to go.
By the way…you’re strangling your husband.
I won’t be a third wheel!
I had been looking forward to making some crank phone calls this evening.
I’m going on a journey of personal enlightenment.
But it’s past your bedtime!
I scared the skeezles out of her.
No one calls me. No one visits me.
I didn’t have time to socialize. I was far too busy with my studies.
How cruel! How can she not remember?
She liked me. I know it!
I may do something drastic.
Have I mentioned that I particularly detest cute little girls?
Maybe I’m not hearing you correctly.
Come on, a minute ago I couldn’t shut you up. Details, details!
And if he freezes to death? That’s his problem.
It’s nice to know I still have that kind of an effect on people.
Uh, [Muse Name]…I’m overwhelmed…
I think it was a masterful touch, don’t you?
I meant to do that. It’s all part of the plan.
No security system could stop me. No guard dog could prevent me.
Children are so gullible.
What more could I want for Christmas than this?
Let’s take this good cheer thing one step at a time, okay?
No one should be alone on Christmas.
I’m a loose cannon. I’m a live wire. I’m a threat to society!
You wouldn’t want me to be that disgusting, would you?
I stole one of the headlights off your car.
Out! Everybody out!
I mean, Christmas is one thing, but Easter is the worst!

"please tell me you didn't eat that"
Theris's hand pauses with a mushroom held softly between his fingers. He looks up from it and then to Grey and his brows knit together in confusion. They were fine, normal mushrooms despite the weird cave they were growing in, and he was hungry. Did Grey know something about them that he didn't? Normally he would have brushed him off cause no one knew plants better than a Druid, but Grey was a fellow alchemist, and maybe Theris had identified the fungi incorrectly. He drops the mushroom and straightens back up from where he was crouched brushing his hand off on his clothes.
"No?" he replies a built guilty because he did, "why is there something wrong with it? Its not poisonous is it?"

“i do blame you.”
Theris wrings his hands together anxiously as Erudition's stare can sometimes be classified as intimidating or downright scary. He's sure the tiefling knows its not really him who did it he doesn't even have the glue anymore, hasn't for a while, but he's the responsible one. He's the one in the group to go 'Maybe we shouldn't do that' and sometimes the group won't and sometimes they'll remember Theris is only saying it to keep them out of trouble and they WON'T do it. This wasn't one of those times, he wasn't even aware they HAD done this, it was probably Hawk since no one had see them do it and would have gotten caught otherwise. Its kind of distracting honestly when he can get a glimpse of them behind Erudition's horns, at first it had been just one, but now there's a second one a little off placement from the last on the other horn. A single platinum piece stuck on their tight telling Theris everything he needs to about the culprit.
Hawk why?
"For what its worth I am sorry" Theris begins, "but we can get it off with an alchemical solution! Same with the other in the elevator! I can find the ingredients for it and we can try and fix the problem! I didn't even know Hawk still had the glue in the first place it hardly ever comes up in conversation and Hawk would have never listed to me if I told him not to do it."
They sound like excuses even in Theris's ears and he knows Erudition won't take them but its the best hope he has that he'll at least take the solution and stop being mad at HIM. Theris swears he needs a vacation from all of this, his friends are driving him nuts.
"Actually you're leaving this plane right? Can you just, maybe, take me with you?" He's only a little serious, yeah only a little.

“i couldn’t trust my own parents to protect me.” //elegyverse
Theris more or less knew this information already, not in so many outright words, but he could tell as much from the bits of himself that Caspian was able to part with. He had heard bits and pieces about his ex-noble friend being disowned and the story that revolved around the whole incident and honestly he felt for him about it, about everything. While Theris only knew that kind of pain now after seeing how parents were supposed to act with their own children in places like Belltown and Anserin, Caspian must have been dealing with the same feeling for what must have felt like forever in human years. It was hard to miss something you never had, but Caspian had experienced those feelings. The warmth and love of a family more or less and the acceptance they had before everything that had happened.
Still it stings a little as they now sit in silence watching the dying flames of the campfire as the first light of the sun was starting to peek through the branches of trees. Aunn and Grey still slept peacefully while Hawk had wandered off as he liked to do while Caspian and Theris took the last leg of watch. He kind of squirmed in his spot on the dirt while Caspian rest his cheek in the palm of his hand and just stared into the flickering flames.
Theris snuck a few glances at the bard before he finally spoke, "I'm sorry they weren't there for you when you needed them."
It didn't mean anything and he knew it, apologizing for something he didn't even do wouldn't help get his friend out of this odd mood he was in. It felt like nothing could knock this weird funk that came over him the minute they entered the borders to Swanica, not even familiar party banter. Yet he couldn't stop himself from saying it in the end cause they're not like that and he's not sure how to impress it upon Caspian that they aren't and won't be.
"You can trust us" he started eyes flicking to the tree line for brief moment like Hawk would appear there again at any moment, "well some of us more than other's, but its true. Between Grey and Aunn so few things have a chance to even reach us in the back and even if they manage I'll be there to pick you back up. So trust us."
Now he doesn't avoid eye contact even if Caspian won't look at him, because if he does then Theris wants him to understand he means what he says and that he's not alone no matter who's done what to him before. They're going to save Swanica and light the lighthouse, and do it with him every step of the way.

“there’s something wrong with me.”
It wasn't often that Aunn stopped by to see him on his own especially now that their adventure was more or less over. It wasn't a secret that their monk preferred the company of Caspian over the rest of them not that Theris faulted him for it. Yet it was nice to have some one on one time with a dear friend without the threat of the end of the world hanging over their heads. Yet Aunn sits still from the makeshift porch on Theris's little home while he works in the fields plucking a few weeds that had started rearing their heads in the last week. He looked up occasionally from his task a little nervous seeing his friend sit so still for so long but refused to push him to speak.
“there’s something wrong with me.”
Theris's head shot up his gloved hand wrapped firmly around the newly plucked weed as Aunn finally says something. Its not, exactly, what he had been expecting when he and Aunn hadn't seen each other in so long. Yet it was only natural that he would come to him when something was wrong. Theris had been the healing hand in their journey for such a long time and maybe the changeling just trusted him more than some stranger. The thought was a little warming and reminded him that things hadn't changed much even thought they were separated like they were.
He stood from where he was crouched and tossed the weed into the basket he had brought to put them in and pulled his gloves off his hands. Aunn didn't move an inch even when Theris crossed the field and pressed the back of his hand to his forehead. After a few tentative seconds of silence the druid shook his head and stepped back with a look of concern.
"You're not running a fever," he began slowly, "is it physical? Did something happen?"
He caught himself before he started hounding Aunn with more questions worried that maybe he was hurt or maybe it had something to do with the magic that had brought him back, but he was concerned. Surely if he was hurt Aunn would have said so at least hurried him along instead of letting him play in his little field for the last hour. Still worry creeped in like vines left unchecked and tightened in his throat and if he didn't set Aunn down to talk he wouldn't stop thinking or worrying about it. Theris looked back over his shoulder at the remainder of the field and just turned a smile back to his friend and waved his hand.
"I'll set someone else too it," Theris then gestured to his small home, "why don't we go inside for tea and talk about it? I may not give good advice outside of medical advice but I can be a sympathetic ear if you need it."
