Eldin couldn’t help but smile at the cute sound that came from Gazsi.  It was unexpected, and absolutely adorable. He would love to hear it again. If only it wasn’t such bad timing.
The compliments melted Eldin’s anxieties. He smiled softly. “I’m happy I can be of service. If you let me, I’ll continue to help keep you safe once we’re out of here.”
“Yes please,” he mumbled, trying to ignore how his head spun as he shifted slightly. “Don’t...don’t leave me, please...”
As the noise of the rescue team seemed to get closer, Gazsi’s hand stilled where it had been tracing patterns on Eldin’s chest and he clung to the other’s shirt gently. The shouting and noise of the equipment seemed to bounce around in his skull and he felt sick again, shrinking into Eldin as though he could escape how his head was pounding that way. “I-I’m....remember, i-in case I pass out o-or Alida ends up in front a-and I can’t speak, legally our name is Mari... They can scan o-our ID bracelet for medical history stuff they might need.”
He could tell his hold on front was getting weaker, and the headache threatened to overwhelm him. Gaz sniffled quietly, tears welling up as he tried to cover his ears to block out some of the noise. “E-Eldin, I-I don’t feel good...i-it’s too loud a-and my head really hurts a-and I wanna go h-home...”
🌋 for uhhhhhhh El and the squad >:3
Send “🌋” for an earthquake to strike. Our muses end up getting trapped in a collapsed building together forced to await rescue.
In the months Eldin had known the Squad he had picked up on a worrisome pattern. The Squad had a horrible knack for attracting trouble. To keep them safe, Eldin started tracking their cell phone signal before and after they left for their jobs and classes. It wasn’t the least creepy way to do it, but it was the best way for Eldin to keep them safe while still giving them their independence.
While they still felt guilty from time-to-time, today was one of those days he didn’t. The moment the Squad’s signal moved off their normal path into a building marked abandoned in public records, his suspicions went from zero to one hundred real quick. He raced off to the location to find the squad surrounded by three punks. It took only a few minutes to chase them off, but the earthquake that started the moment he got the squad in his arms was when the true danger began.
“Hold on!” Eldin shouted as the crumbling building gave way to the pressures of the earthquake. He threw a domed shield over them as chunks of concrete and other building materials came crashing down on them and they were plunged into darkness and the soft purple light of his shield. They were trapped.

Eldin mimicked the action by tracing soft swirls on his shoulder. He hoped it would help to ease the tensions he could see bubbling under the surface.
“Are you sure it’s not because I can put up a shield to protect you?” Eldin asked with a teasing smirk. He chuckled lightly before turning more serious. “I’m glad I can be here with you so you aren’t going through this alone.”
Gazsi melted immediately, unable to stop the pleased sigh that escaped him as he felt Eldin’s touch. His cheeks flushed pink. He hadn’t meant to make that noise out loud, he just....was going to blame the concussion. Sure.
“I-I’m sure....” he managed softly. “I like being around you. You make me feel safe...even safer now that I know you can use a shield,” Gaz teased.

“So long as I’m stationed on this planet, I will always come to your rescue,” Eldin told him quietly. He didn’t want to risk bringing Gazsi more harm by speaking any louder than necessary to be heard. “I don’t mind being stuck with you. I always like spending time with you, our current circumstances could be better…but we don’t have to think about that right now.”
Dust and smaller pieces of rock sprinkled down on them. Eldin glanced up. “It looks like they’re making progress.”
He hummed in response, head still spinning. Gaz smiled as one hand started tracing patterns on Eldin’s chest softly. It was mostly to calm himself.
Not that he didn’t trust the rescue team or anything but.....having a building’s worth of debris above them, ready to collapse at any moment wasn’t exactly what he’d call a relaxing situation.
“If I had to chose a person to be stuck here with.....you’re definitely my first choice...” he mumbled. “Even before finding out you have all sorts of cool alien stories to distract me with.”

Eldin took hold of Gazsi to keep him from hitting the ground. “I’m so sorry.”
He gently pulled Gazsi close. “Stay close to me. I’ll protect you if anything loosens and falls down.”
More noise could be heard overhead as directions and commands were made to dig them out. They would be out soon and he could get Gazsi the proper help he needed. “We’ll be free soon. I promise. Then we’ll get you to a hospital and taken care of.”
Gazsi melted into Eldin with a small hum of agreement. “M’kay...” He nestled against the other softly, face buried in the crook of Eldin’s neck. If he wasn’t so focused on the pounding headache, he might have had the presence of mind to notice how nicely he seemed to fit in the other’s arms.
“Thank you for coming to my rescue...” he mumbled, relaxing a bit now that he knew help was so close. “Sorry you ended up stuck in here with me.”

“What’s a trampoline?” Eldin asked in curiosity. The word sounded familiar, but he couldn’t bring to mind what the item looked like. It must have been a bouncing device for children. How fascinating.
Eldin adjust his hold on Gazsi to accommodate the shifted position. Before he could say more, the sounds of movement and shouts could be heard above.
“Hello! Can anyone hear us?”
“We’re down here!” Eldin shouted. “Down here!”
“’s a frame with stretchy material that you jump on...” Gaz mumbled, shifting one hand to hold onto the front of Eldin’s shirt weakly. His breathing caught in his throat for a moment as his head spun, eyes fluttering closed.
Good thing he was already leaning on Eldin to stay upright, or else he might have fallen over.
Gazsi tensed at the sound of movement somewhere above them, then flinched back as Eldin shouted. The sudden change in volume and his own movement had his ears ringing and his stomach doing backflips again as it felt like the ground tilted beneath him. He managed to catch himself with one arm before he could fall to the ground again, giving Eldin a sheepish smile.
“Surprised m-me...” he whispered, hating how he was shaking from both panic and the effort of staying upright. “Loud s-sounds a-aren’t the best with this h-headache...”

“Hm. True. You know a planet you might like is this one called Jaei. The surface is all jiggly kind like jello! It’s super bouncy and fun to run and jump on. And you can slide down the hills!” He said in excitement. “The only species that lives there are these adorable little birds that love to bounce and roll down the hills!”
Gaz lit up with a small gasp. “Like a big trampoline!!” he mumbled, eyes wide with excitement. “That sounds so fun! Last time I was on a trampoline was when I was a kid...”
He sighed happily, resting his head back on Eldin’s shoulder with a smile. “I hope I get to see places like that someday...”

“It’s alright,” Eldin assured him. The red in Andor’s cheeks sparked concern. Was he alright? Or overheating? No wait, humans could turn red out of embarrassment too. Based on the circumstances, he could guess that was the most likely reason for the color change.  “I don’t mind letting the old timer have his fun. He seems nice too, so don’t worry about it. I do want to take the moment to tell you that I don’t have those kind of intentions. I’m a ‘get to know someone first’ kind of person…and you are injured. I don’t think that’s something your body needs right now either.”
Eldin had to hold back a groan. Did that sound terribly awkward to anyone else or was it just him? Very smooth, El. Very smooth.
Andor couldn’t stop a laugh, one eyebrow raising as he gave the other a teasing smirk. “So you’re saying if I wasn’t injured, it might be on the table?” he teased. “Shame I’m injured then. I’ll just have to get to know you better first.”
He turned to unlock the door to his apartment and let them both in. “Here we are. Come one in! It’s a bit small, but I live alone, so...Space isn’t much of an issue here.”

Eldin kept his arms around him and hummed in thought. “There’s this dessert planet that has these massive sand monsters that plague the surface every day of the year except three when the sun shines through. Every other day the surface is covered in never ending sandstorms. The people live under the surface and I know it sounds bad, but in those three days when the sun comes out…wow, it’s gorgeous. The sunrises and sunsets are beautiful and the way the sand sparkles in the sunlight is so pretty.”
He giggled softly, scrunching up his nose. “I could never live somewhere like that. I hate sand, no matter how pretty it is,” he mumbled, lifting his head to look at Eldin. “Besides, I’m not sure I’m equipped to handle sand monsters....”

Ella’s smile softened and she gently pressed a hand to Mari’s cheek. “I mean it. thank you. Thank you for being here and being so wonderful. I love you so much.”
They giggled, leaning into her touch and pulling the princess into another soft kiss. “I love you too,” they murmured against her lips, not pulling away. Having Ella close had the rest of the lingering tension from the rough night melting away in an instant.
A knock on the door from a servant bringing them something to drink had Mari pulling back softly, giving Ella a small pout. They disappeared behind the screen in the corner of the room to change out of their sleep clothes quickly. “Can you get the door?”

“Okay then let’s not focus on that,” Eldin said gently. He rubbed Gazsi’s back in an attempt to comfort him. He hated seeing and feeling Gazsi so upset. Eldin felt horrible for bringing up the subject.
Eldin continued to hug Gazsi and held him steady. “Don’t worry. We’re going to be okay. You’re going to be okay. I know the rescuers will be here soon, I can sense it.”
Gazsi sniffled softly, hands coming up to grab onto the back of Eldin’s shirt as he snuggled closer. “I know...” he whispered. “I believe you.... Can...can you tell me about more places you’ve been? I-it sounds really cool...”

Eldin would frown at that. He hadn’t considered the consequences of such an injury for a human. “I’ll help then.”
“If you want me to,” he quickly added. “The mission I’m on gives me a lot of free time. I can help you with the rent and taking care of your place while you recover. It’s my fault for not reacting sooner to keep you safe. The least I can do is help you with your recovery.”
Eldin managed a small smile and pulled Gazsi in for a hug. It was meant as a comfort and so he would stop staying upright. “I’m really glad I got here in time to help. I don’t know what I would do if something worse had happened to you”
He wanted to cry. Eldin was so sweet and so nice...and his hugs felt really good too. Gazsi melted into the embrace, resting his head on Eldin’s shoulder carefully so he could hide the tears welling up.
“I’m glad you found me,” he managed, slightly choked up as a few tears slipped out. He took a deep breath to try and steady himself, but the hitch as he tried not to break down crying instead definitely gave everything away. “I...I don’t want to think about what would have happened i-if you hadn’t gotten here when you did.”

Eldin stared at Gazsi in concern. “Careful.”
He took a hold of Gazi’s sides to keep him steady. “While you make a point with the concussion, I can’t take you into space with a concussion either. My ship would protect you better than your human ships, but it still would be too much of a risk.”
Eldin gave him a gentle smile. “When you’re healed up, we can talk about taking a vacation. I can give you some money to cover loss of income since we could be gone almost a full month depending on how long you want to stay.”
Gaz couldn’t stop an amused huff as his head spun again, leaning into Eldin’s touch softly. “I’m already going to lose my job at this rate,” he mumbled, eyes drifting shut for a few moments. “I’m going to be unable to work for at least a month and a half, and the bar is busy enough that they’ll just hire someone else. The bakery might keep me on, though i’m not sure how well the early hours will work out with a concussion like this. Maybe they’ll let me switch to working the counter instead of being in the back....”
He trailed off when he realised he was rambling, giving Eldin a shaky smile and opening his eyes to study the other’s expression. “It’s a good thing you’re here. The medical bills would be worse if I had more than this concussion...” And he didn’t want to be there alone. Eldin made him feel safe.

“Don’t worry, I can be good,” Eldin assured them with a smile.
He went back to eating the delicious food Mari made him. He made sure to take his time so he could savor each bite. This was a piece of Mari’s home, their culture and he wanted to really taste it to get to know it.
“This is really good,” he told them. “It’s so different than the foods we make here. I really like it!”
Mari only managed a hum at his promise, knowing that if they tried to say anything they’d immediately give away just how badly he was affecting them. Keep it together, Mari. You are not going to get all whiny over some teasing at the dinner table. They focused on their plate in an attempt to keep it together.
When Eldin gushed about how he liked the food, they could feel their face turning pink as their shoulders fell slightly. They hadn’t even realised how tense they were. “I’m glad you like it,” they replied softly, giving him a pleased smile. “I have more recipes for you to try, so we can do this again...”

Seeing Andor’s confusion, the Prince jolted. “Oh! Sorry, I forgot you’re not from around here. A form of comfort here is holding both your hands and squeezing them. It’s like a double hug in your hands!”
He gave Andor’s hands a squeeze before letting them go with a smile. He rocked on his feet. “Do you want to take the common way or the secret tunnel way?”
Andor can’t stop a small blush at the squeeze to his hands, giving Eldin a small smile. “I...don’t hate it,” he replied softly, smile growing into the smallest crooked grin. “I’m not too familiar with the whole ‘comfort’ thing, but it’s not bad.”
A slight chuckle as he folded his hands in front of himself carefully. “Are you sure you should be telling someone your father’s army captured about the secret tunnels?” he teased. “That seems like a safety hazard. How do you know you can trust me? We just met!”

Eldin stared at the figure before them in frustration. The prince crossed his arms. “Father! I told you I wasn’t interested in any of these spoils of war you’re so keen on us taking. I don’t want some person forced to be here! At least the servants want to work here.”
The King shot a glare at his son, their teal eyes ablaze with frustration. “You are so much like your mother, but no child of mine will turn away a prize such as this. I’m fighting this war for you and our kingdom. You will inherit this kingdom from me, and as a ruler you must learn to accept gifts such as this. Now take them!”
Eldin huffed in frustration as his father exited the room leaving Eldin with the person before him an the guards standing by the door just in case. Eldin ran a hand through his dark purple locks and adjusted the cloak around his shoulders. “I’m sorry about this, but I promise there are definitely worse people to be…given to? Gods, that sounds even worse said out loud. I um- I’m Eldin. What’s your name?”

“It’s okay. I keep forgetting I also crashed face first into your planet. Normally a blast to the torso wouldn’t hurt this much,” Ella reassured him. She didn’t want him feeling bad for something he couldn’t actually control.
She sighed in relief once the shoes were off. It already felt like she could relax more now that the pressure around her feet were gone. She wiggled her toes from within the black socks covered in silver stars. At the mention of the rest of her clothes, she looked between her silver pants and her purple shirt with its black jacket. “Pants first. I don’t want to know what my injury looks like yet.”
Andor couldn’t stop the pink blooming in his cheeks as he ran a hand through his hair awkwardly. And you said I was a disaster. Just because he was turning pink at the suggestion that the cute purple alien was going to take her clothes off didnt mean he was a disaster. Just flustered.
Sure, Andor. Whatever you say.
“I--uh...I can close my eyes if you want? I’ll help keep you standing if you need it, but I don’t have to see to do that...Or I can have Mari help.”

Eldin kept his arm protectively around Gazsi in case he fell over completely. His attention shifted between the scene and his friend. A small smile formed as he watched the colors dance around the cave.
“Maybe one day I could take you somewhere like this. There’s a crystal planet that is a lot like this one and it’s gorgeous. They have atmosphere adjusters to make sure each visitor can survive the visit,” Eldin said quietly as he glanced down at Gazsi to gauge his reaction. “It would be tricky though. We’d be gone for at least a few weeks Earth time.”
Gaz couldn’t stop the gasp after the few seconds it took to process what Eldin was saying. Despite how badly it made his head spin, he sat up so he could turn to look at the other properly.
“ R...really?” he managed breathlessly, one hand coming out to rest on Eldin’s shoulder softly. “I-I...could use a vacation,” he joked, trying to ignore how unsteady he was and instead focusing on keeping his eyes open so he could study the other’s expression. “Besides, it’s not as though I’d be able to work for a while with this concussion...”
