about to say something mean but i feel like every "male-specific" issue is something that also happens to women its just that a lot of you dont seem to see women as people
i'm such a big fan of laios using being well fed as proof that he's serious. like there's so many techbros & etc who will use not eating breakfast as proof that they're productive & just in general, the idea of being "too busy to eat" is getting more common (which is exactly what toshiro is doing here!) but laios is like. no. i'm so serious about this i'm thinking about what comes next. i'm so serious about this i'm making sure my body can do everything it can when i need it.
the fact that everyone in the party took care of themselves & carefully planned out their route & when they'd take breaks is what made them so successful. they always made sure to understand their limits
If people in general can understand that someone watching a horror movie might jump in their chair, have their heart rate go up, and feel nervous, even though there is no actual threat in the room, then why can't they understand the same is true for people experiencing psychosis?
They are similar, you are seeing something that isn't actually real, you may believe it's real or not, but either way you will react as if it were real because your brain can't help it. The difference is the person in psychosis isn't seeing it through the safety of a screen, isn't prepared for it and can't immediately turn it off if they want to.
So why is it so hard for people to understand why people in psychosis will react like they are actually experiencing something? Anyone would jump back if an elephant suddenly appeared in front of them. Or be very nervous if they hear their name called when they are home alone. So why are people in psychosis expected to not react, or stop reacting when someone tells them it isn't real?
It really shows a lack of sympathy from people who haven't experienced psychosis, for them to expect us to not have reactions. We are expected to somehow suppress our brains natural reactions, simply for other people's comfort. This applies even more to people of color and homeless people. We are expected to fit the status quo, even when our brains are experiencing something as real.
I say all this to say, try to consider the experience of people with psychosis if you haven't. Don't gawk at people reacting to something you don't see. Try not to fear the homeless person talking to someone that isn't actually there. Don't make fun of, or judge people for reacting to something they are experiencing, just because you don't experience it.
If you didnt believe Laios was autistic before todays episode i hope it clears that up for you
we were first shown his special interest, a very autistic trait to have. We get to see him indulge in his interest, we get to see him happy.
but this episode contains the scene that makes it clear Laios cannot understand social cues, tone of voice, sarcasm, or subtlety. He actively suffers socially with other humans.
Shuro is pissed Laios didnt pick up on the fact that he hated Laios, because he was being passive aggressive (at best, Shuro bottled up a lot of feelings), and said verbally he was Laios' friend. Laios takes things at face value, if someone says "im your friend" that's what he believes is true.
He hates that Laios "gets to be genuine". I hate the way he says that "gets" as if its a privilege for Laios. It's a privilege for Shuro who is nobility and has his behavior and emotions stifled. Laios doesnt understand that others are NOT genuine. he's not from that world.
that's why Laios asks "why didnt you TELL me?" and Shuro says it should have been obvious.
it was NOT obvious to Laios, not at all.
And also, that was who Laios thought was his FIRST friend on the island. he thought he made a friend, something actively difficult for him to do.
it devastated him to learn that he was wrong the entire time.
agreed on the “fgo np’s are lame as hell” thing, but I would like to point out that the first disappointing np is actually caliburn, which instead of doing anything cool with its actual legend, where pulling it from the stone makes you a king, it’s just the Walmart brand Excalibur
both excalibur and caliburn are just swords that shoot beams in terms of like combat effect which definitely cant live up to shit like reversing causality but that's ignoring the way swords are ideals are treated as basically the same thing throughout the game and the weight behind caliburn isn't in what it does so much as in what it means to pick it up and what it means for saber to have caliburn in her hands rather than excalibur. which is what this scene was all about
within the context of fsn i also think it's fine for saber to have a sword that shoots a beam that takes effect (and another sword that also shoots a beam that takes effect) because she's the only one who has the beam that takes effect. everyone else is doing insane reality breaking shit to make them formidable opponents so saber stands out by being a formidable opponent through very straightforward overwhelming force
Shinjuku Boys (1995). Tatsu, a transgender man, jokes with his barber about his changing appearance, and his newly masculine features.
TRANSCRIPT:
BARBER: So you go regularly to the hospital for your hormone injection?
TATSU: [nods]
BARBER: Does it hurt?
TATSU: Not at all.
BARBER: You have more facial hair. It must be the hormones. You’ll get a moustache soon.
TATSU: I’ll look distinguished! They’ve made quite the difference. I never thought I’d change so much. Most customers say I’m like a man.
BARBER: Really?
TATSU: [laughing] They say, “You look like a man. You’re not cute.”
BARBER: [laughs]
what's interesting is the average reddit misogynist is ALSO the average guy who has detailed fantasies of saving a girl from some sort of life-or-death situation. idk freud probably said something about this one. the girl is your mom?
Limiting the choice to the shows and movies I have seen/know of. I'm not asking who the first actor you have seem playing Arthur was, rather the one you instinctively think about when someone mentions him or the one closest to your heart.
overtly fascist america sending its footsoldiers to a fucking university protest and its not even may yet. remind me somebody how voting for biden is a lesser evil or how voting in general is relevant to what the real world ends up like
