Six shades of Blue

Blue is the colour of the censored liquid used in tampon ads, sanitary marketing. Confronting the subject and topic of the market with the blue scheme in and parodically following the guidelines of the 'taboo' subject. We chose to create a street-art backdrop for the final poster advert to give the essence of a billboard as it would be a perfectly uniform for public showing. We distressed the posters, which Anna Highley, Anna Weissner and I created, with sandpaper and followed the colour palette agreed on by using a 'luxurious'-looking gold spray paint tags for added street-art effect. Overall I am pleased with the outcome and how three members of the group pulled it all together although some features planned for the mini-campaign weren't in the final show (t-shirts) I believe the brand ran parallel with the 6 editions of zines in partnership with 'six shades of blue' and 'Tippalette' tampons which meant that the aims and intentions of the project were met at the final show. The audience understood the narrative, concepts and some felt empowered by the fresh angle and outlook on our subject and those that weren't communicated their discomfort and lack of knowledge of the topic which I predicted. Concluding a successful confrontation of a 'difficult' and 'embarrassing subject' I enjoyed the process and creative freedoms working in a collaborative and would like to work with Anna Highley and Anna Weissner again in the future.
