November 2016: Gorgeous Geiko Makino (Okaai Okiya) of Gion Kobu in black and white.
Makino had her Erikae in October 2012. After completing her contract with the Minoyae Okiya, she started working with the Okaai Okiya, an okiya who specializes on working with jimae Geiko (independent Geiko) like her.
This doesn’t mean that she and her old okiya are on bad terms. A jimae Geiko is free to choose how she wants to schedule her appointments.
Even is this means switching okiya/ochaya, she and her old okiya usually remain on good terms.

December 2016: Maiko Koyoshi (Shigemori Okiya) of Miyagawacho hosting a tea ceremony at the newly-established Maiko Theater.
The Maiko Theatre was started this month by the Shigemori Okiya of Miyagawacho and has a number of Maiko working for it, not only from the Shigemori Okiya.
There are several “packages” that you can get for different prices, but generally, you always get to see a Maiko perform a dance, have tea and sweets served by Maiko and will get a little explanation of what a Maiko’s and Geiko’s job intails and will have time to chat.

December 2016: Maiko-sisters Koharu and Koen (Shigemori Okiya) of Miyagawacho playing the shamisen.
Miyagawacho and Pontocho pride themselves with educating their Geimaiko in all forms of the arts, and that is why there usually is no clear distinctiom between tachikata and jikata Geiko - all Geiko are required to being able to work as both, depending on what is needed.
This education already starts with the youngest Maiko, as we can see in the picture above.
Of course Gion Kobu, Gion Higashi and Kamishichiken also have their Maiko study singing, the shamisen and other instruments, but the focus in these districts (for the Maiko) is more on dancing.

She immediately gripped her servo, optics flashing down to the delicate digits that seemed like the finest of metals in her grasp. Windblade was always so precious, so perfect in every way. Primus…
“I know, I know…but old habits die hard, Windblade.”, she murmured when she was within reach, and while their servos no longer connected, she used hers to wrap around Windblade’s waist and pull her closer, tighter, into an embrace that had been long overdue. “Never doubt yourself, dear spark…Never.”, without any concern, Chromia nuzzled against the femme’s audial, and held that embrace a moment longer.
When Chromia released her, her helm tilted to the side just a little bit.
“You are the best one to help them. And we will free our people, as we should. There has been so much we have done, so much we went through, and you, my little Windblade, look at how you have grown, bloomed into your skills, and power. I am so proud…”
╰ ˚ ⚔ ˚ ╮ NOW THE EMBRACE DID STARTLE WINDBLADE, but the flier hide it with a widened glance over Chromia’s shoulder, and quickly wiped away the expression as soon as she was released. Trying not to think of how much she enjoyed that briefly little expression of affection against her audial, Windblade smiled her doe-like smile.
She knew better than to show just how vulnerable she was to the Cybertronians. They might be her friends, but they were no friend in comparison to Chromia. For although the grounder may have been assigned as her bodyguard, the blue elder was far more than just that. She guided Windblade in small and subtle ways, asking for no credit...
Heat diffused itself through her facial plates, ❝ Chromia, don’t call me ❛ little ❜— ❞ She pleaded; was that really what she took issue with? None of the declarations of how she was Chromia’s Windblade? Well, that wasn’t so bad.
Their optics were watching each other’s, and the flier sought in her companion some silent affirmation that could not be found with words. ❝ We owe a lot of this to Elita One; without her... I just don’t know how much longer I would have believed the lies of the Quintessons. ❞

╰ ˚ ⚔ ˚ ╮ CHROMIA WAS SO SILLY then, and Windblade smiled for it. It softened her features polished so bright they gleamed white in any light; tonight they were silver. ❝ Of course, ❞ she said, shaking her head in fondness.
❝ Chromia, this is not Caminus; we are with the Cybertronians, on their ship. Treat me as a friend here, please. Treat me how we’re now fighting for our people to be treated: as equals. ❞ Now that sadness had been washed away with a receding wave, but with a wash of new thought it returned and took with it that smile.
A small and tapered servo was held out, gently grasping at her taller friend’s and holding it briefly, and she met the blue optics of her friend to convey with her the sincerity of trust between them. Then, she released Chromia’s stronger hands and let the warship’s artificial gravity breakaway their grasps.
❝ I trust these Cybertronians, but I do not trust my judgment as I once did; am I right to defer to them, to give them aid in ask that in return they will someday give our people their’s? ❞
❝ Chromia… ❞ Her voice was light in the dark, although it did not peel back the shadows. Her hesitation did not become her, although it was truly Windblade.
A startle, from the depth of her spark, the very tip of her digits. That voice, that sweet sound she felt she would not hear again. Chromia froze, only for a moment, before she took a step closer to the darkness.
“My dearest cityspeaker…”
She dared not use her designation for fear of others being close. What if they were watching? Listening?
“May I approach ?”
